Radiant floor heating, "water to water"?

I see. Different "cleaning". I was thinking "burner" and flue pipe maintenance. I've never "cleaned" a hot water boiler "water side". Never read of a need to do that. As you say, closed system. Without makeup water needed (leaks), O^2 will be gone pretty quickly. Have to look over...

Radiant floor heating, "water to water"?

Takagi is a brand of "on demand" domestic hot water heater. Already installed to provide domestic hot water. Works great, no "cleaning" required at all. I went to that as I got fed up with having to run the oil burner in summer time, making that area of the basement uncomfortable. And oil...

Radiant floor heating, "water to water"?

Pretty sure I know people that have done under floor radiant. Staple up the PEX and formed aluminum reflectors/heat spreaders. Install insulation over that. Heat will move toward cold, every time. Yep pretty sure I have heard of that happening. And never stayed at a Holiday in Express either.

Radiant floor heating, "water to water"?

Been mulling over adding radiant floor heat under the baths and kitchen floors, ball ceramic tiled. The heating of the hot water is the big question. Was thinking of: - Adding an additional on demand propane water heater dedicated to the task - using the existing, idle, indirect h/w tank, on...

    Island Range hood

Just to "close out". Ran it vented inside, for a while, till weather and energy allowed me to install the roof vent, a traditional Lo profile Broan vent. Poor QC by the way, but, it will work. And work it does. Much better with venting outside. Thanks for the comments.

    Island Range hood

If I do vented style, I would certainly vent outside the soffit, certainly not "dump it" into the soffit area. Guess I did not make that clear. There are several versions of this style hood, all claim to have very efficient removable grease filters that they advise must be monitored and cleaned...

    Island Range hood

Installing a AKDY island range hood with Carbon Filters. It can be installed with these filters in a "re-circ" configuratio or in a "vented" configuration with exhaust exiting the building. The former is what I intended. I did not want to have to run a vent stack and penetrate the roof...

HRV/ERV ducting. Supply air to rooms, or return air from rooms?

Ready to lay out ducting for an HRV. Much of the discussion I have read seems to assume one should supply air to individual rooms, such as Bedrooms, and have one or more "centralized" returns. However, in the age of COVID and with concerns about other airborne health concerns, might it be...

    Burnham V7 hard lockout

Burnham V7 that experiences occasional "hard lockout" on the controller LCD display. This appears to be an ignition issue as I can reset the controller and it will fire up, first try. There will be an odor an sometimes a puff of smoke from the flame inspection port on light off, which...
