I found out I am within 60 miles of the people who are Alpine Guide Tire! Drove down there today and had great visit. They...

    Advice on travel route

For what it’s worth! I would try to overnight in Idaho Falls. Gives you three options next day. I-15 to Butte US 20 through Island Park Highway 26 through Alpine, Jackson Hole, Riverton Plus a big Army Surplus store if you get stuck😎 Personally I really avoid US 191 West Yellowstone to...

Idaho and FS regs concerning snow-cats

I live in southwest Montana and have to travel by snowcat or snowmobile into Idaho to get highway access in the winter. Montana allowed me to title both my Thiokol 4T8 and my Snow Trac ST4B as snowmobiles. This allowed my insurance company to issue liability policies for both machines. I have...

    Advice on travel route

I would recommend I-15 Salt Lake to Idaho Falls. Highway 20 from Idaho Falls through Island Park to ID/MT 87 and hit Highway 287 to Norris, MT. At Norris you can head east toward Bozeman or continue north and get I-90 to Bozeman. If the Highway 20 and 87 are questionable, you can stay on I-15...

WTB - Thiokol Imp Wide Track Trailer

Ooops! Forgot to address travel South. I maybe get to I Falls twice a year and haven’t gone farther than that for several years. Especially seeing as I run a Ford 460 fuel disposer.

WTB - Thiokol Imp Wide Track Trailer

I have towed the trailer twice. The first time was about 65 miles to bring the ST4B home and the second time about 100 miles to get it to sales lot at Norris, MT in the spring of 2021. Trailer deck is basically as pictured above. To the best of my knowledge the trailer was built to accommodate...

WTB - Thiokol Imp Wide Track Trailer

I still have the trailer that is listed above. It is sitting in Norris, MT. Would take $1500 for it! The trailer came with my ST4B, I just don’t have any use for it. If I have to move my Snow Master, I have bigger trailer available.

    Report Your Snow Depth

3ft + depending on wind effect. Saw a bull moose a couple days ago and his belly was dragging. You can’t get a pound of it in a five gallon bucket. All fluff clear to the ground and the big powder sleds are leaving a two foot trench behind. 👍😎. Have to warm it up to make a⛄️

I just inherited a retired snow trac from Search and Rescue

I just counted 14 sprocket teeth on my Snow Master. Ward Pilot, I am not sure that your tracks are on backward! My machine with the herringbone grousers has the same effect of pulling the snow to the center of the track.

I just inherited a retired snow trac from Search and Rescue

I don’t know what gears I have, but based on the speeds I am getting, it would appear it is the 11 tooth setup. Lucky me! As I understand it, at my altitude 12 of the 40 VW horses got away. With any appreciable upslope I am having to shift from 4th to 3rd gear!

I just inherited a retired snow trac from Search and Rescue

Great photos for following your work! Really helps those of thinking of making changes or considering options! You may want a fuel can cover with the placement of carrying rack. My machine throws a pile of snow on the back half of cargo rack. Do you really need extra fuel onboard. My Snow...

I just inherited a retired snow trac from Search and Rescue

Pretty promising looking starter kit! My 1979 Snowmaster has a second set of lovers in the hood. The forward set is over the air horn (cooling not tooting) and the back set over the steering clutches. I don’t know if more louvers would help on your machine. In the second picture you posted is...
