    Project Scooby/Doo

Further to my madness of chopping tracks onto a geo tracker, I have settled up in weight to 3000 lbs of Subaru Impreza. MOAR power and a better power transmission system. Phase one ATD/2TrackSteer with 15"x60" footprint per track Phase two ATD/ATS slam enough front end parts in the back end...

    OC-12 vagaries , band replacement time ?

Finally got to put a few kms on DMC1450 . I had spec adjusted the torque on the steering bands and then backed it off a touch ~1/4 turn more on the right to reduce apparent drag and drift. 50 yards from the truck it went into hard right turn mode, spun a donut went another 10 yards straight and...

    Steering fluid change

Can't remember how often the manual says to change the brake fluid in my steering master cylinder / slaves but I am certain that nobody did it in avery very long time . . . :bolt: Dr Strangelove would not approve of this lack of care of our precious fluids

    Oversize outer belt ?

The belts on my 1450 look like I want to replace them soon™ . The standard fit is two 9.5 inch wide belts per side, and then my teeny little brain says hey why not up the outer one to 12 or 13 inches ? sure my grousers won't reach but with the staggered ones I could add in an extended backing...

Rookie question --- how much gravel is too much ?

Ok so stupid question time --- how much gravel and rocky road is too much to traverse to get to snow ? In a perfect world I could back off bare pavement into snow, in an imperfect world I can see needing to travel some distance without snow and don't want to wreck stuff. I am looking at machine...

    Recycle pickup cab ?

Sooooo assuming I become happy with all the underguts on my DMC1450 I still have all sorts of things to not like about the cab. I found a complete pickup cab for 100 bones. Can you think of a good reason to not slam that on top of the chassis ?

    1450 Brake Parts spec ?

So the manual on my 81 1450 says it has a 'modified drum brake' on the drive shaft. Does anybody know what parts fit this ? It seems to have gotten serious drag that overheated it to the point where the wheel cylinder exploded :bolt: which explains why stepping on the brake does nada. To...

    OC 12 lash/play question

Digging into my 1450 for the brake I found a little bit of play at the rear end. I'm not sure if its good bad or normal so I made a video of the motion Anybody with experience care to opine on this ? TIA https://photos.app.goo.gl/5yhxMR5F4MZBhJqE8

    Mt Hamilton Radio Site

. . . the hard way . . . So there multiple missions that have been postponed waiting for my 1450 to be ready for primetime, well desperate times call for desperate measures, on the upside all I had to do was break trail not haul toboggan with dishes and tools

    1450 Rearend issue

There is definitely something goofy in there :-( There is a notable drift to the right that goes away after a half mile, until then it is continual corrections to the left. Vibration ? Yup. Follow with overheating (rearend) with only a few miles in and a few hundred feet climb. Is there...

    Used vs rebuilt C4 ???

Soooooo my 1450 has a lame C4 transmission, I am torn between an inexpensive used one vs 1500 CAD more to have mine rebuilt. Any thoughts or gotchas or knowledge on the general longevity of these ? The used one came out of a Maverick with the same engine as I have so that is hopeful(ish).
