Asteroid Apophis approaches Earth

Apophis to pass so close to earth in 2029 that we will be able to see it without the use of telescopes.

The asteroid Apophis has intrigued me for decades since its discovery in early 2004. I have followed information on www.spaceweather.com of Apophis and a fellow asteroid, Toutatis, discovered about the same time. Most of the information on these two, particularly Apophis, has been quietly unavailable. Likely due to its frighteningly close trajectory of passing earth in the near future. Nice that they are putting more out there about it.

I look forward to watching it pass earth in 2029.

On April 13, 2029, Apophis will pass earth at approximately 37,399 km. (about 23,238 miles)
On April 14, 2029 Apophis will pass the moon at approximately 95,742 km. (about 59,491 miles)
The asteroid is 1480 ft x 560 ft

I'm still nervous about that Hellfire missile apparently bouncing off that Orb and now I hear about this near miss in 4 years. As if those damn Dumbocrats aren't enough to worry about.

That's one third of a mile long. One BIG rock!

And 23,000 miles? That is scary close.
