Had to get some help from the Big Guy

yes, I could probably keep the skis on it and haul it that way too if I strapped them down. I'm sure I'll experiment with it but overall I think taking them off reduces the weight and makes it easier to load and unload.

OK, please explain since I mind is working this in reverse. If the binding/mounting feet are mounted dead center the ski should be neutral. Attacking a packed/groomed downhill you are pushing shins into the front of your boots forcing a forward CG (center of gravity) for better carving. In powder you want the opposite so you need to get your CG back. The trailer can't change (other than weight distributed into it). So, when mounted forward of center it would actually be preloading the front tips . . . being rear of center line would take pressure off of the front tips allowing it to float over obstacles easier. Of coarse it really wouldn't matter too much either way since the skis are tracking in/over a groomed surface from the tracks. Am I missing something? Signed: The small brained, east coast, knuckle dragging, 30 grouser guy. :)

and if, for no other reason, that is the way the factory DID IT....and just maybe, when the trailer is on the wheels and being moved about

Well if you don't mind making one more set I would take a set. A trailer behind the 542CF might come in handy some day.

the last ski has been built, the form/platform/mold is retired, permanently !
Permanently? Really? How can I give that post a like?

Back in the 1980s Boeing introduced a really wonderful follow-on airplane to the legendary 727. It was/is the 757. I have never heard any pilot who has flown one speak of it in anything but glowing terms. Great performance, great range, etc, etc. The last one rolled off the production line in 2005.

The one downside to the 757 was that they were expensive. As it can do most of the missions the 757 can, but at a lower cost, Boeing went with the 737. At the time 757 production ceased Boeing was selling the so-called "Next Generation" 737 series. That was followed with the disastrous 737 MAX series.

But now here we are in 2021 and Boeing does not make an airplane model that can do what the 757 could. (The closest available airplane is the Airbus A-321 XLR, which is closer than anything Boeing makes.) Supposedly, some airlines have asked Boeing to bring back the 757 but the rumored answer was the original tooling has been scrapped.

So please PP, don't do like Boeing and scrap your tooling!

Well, like I think about all the gone by the wayside technology: If someone did it then, it can be done again. That is truly the advantage of old school. If you want it bad enough it can be re-created. Things with app's, chips, not as much the tooling is too prohibited. To recreate the tooling for her Pontooness ski production: Find a ski. Look at how she did it. Buy a small fortune in Bessey Clamps, and have fun.

Some heard my story on the bearings for the pelton wheel. Where did you buy those? I DIDN'T, I made them. And the disbelief that someone could make something was astonishing.

I don't know how we made it this far without the trailer. We seem to fill it up with no problem! Tight trees and challenging terrain is no problem at all for it, I forget it's even back there.
