Covid tests

So the kids all came home from school for Christmas break last Friday with rapid response covid tests. I have no problem with that but what I do have an issue with is that these tests are supposed to be perfectly fine to detect covid BUT.....show up at the Canadian border as a Canadian citizen trying to get back into my own country after a 20 minute drive across the border to the border store to pick up packages and come back and I have to get a minimum $2-300 test done in the states to prove that I don't have covid. Starting Tuesday, that's what we have to do. The borders opened up in August but that was the requirement. In November, they removed that requirement for anyone traveling in the states less than 46hrs I believe. Now, because of the dreaded omnicron virus, they are reinstating the test for everyone effective Tuesday. Total bs. I've had just about enough of the wishy washy knee jerk rules changes on a daily basis.

It gets better....so today, I made a quick run down to the border to pick up some packages before the new (old) rules take effect at midnight.

We now have to have an app on our phones with our vaccine info, quarantine plans etc in order to get back into Canada. So I had all that ready along with my passport and a paper copy of my vaccination proof. I get to the Canadian border and they don't ask to see any of it. Just my passport. Then they say that I have been randomly selected for a covid test that I have to do at home and sign up for an account at a testing facility to get online (and wait for 45 minutes on hold) to speak with someone to walk me through the process. And if I don't, I can be fined and they can come and take me and put me in a quarantine place for 14 days. Anyways, I did the test then get told that a shipping company will be on the line next to make arrangements to pick it up. Next, I try entering my address in their app for pickup location. Only problem is that it didn't recognize my address so I had to call the shipping company directly (and get put on hold again for another 40 minutes) to give my address and make pickup arrangements.

At the border, I was told I had 24hrs to complete the test and send it. The shipping company couldn't confirm pickup before the 24hr period was up.

So I waited 2.5hrs this afternoon trying to get a f--king test to prove to the government that their own fn vaccine works. Yah, not impressed. I'm tempted to $h-t in a box and place my passport in it and mail it back to the government. If they think that treating people like prisoners for crossing the border with proper vaccination proof and passport in hand isn't good enough, they can take their passport and shove it up their a$$. I'm fed up with the BS covid restrictions treating everyone like they're a freaking convict.

Oh. And our provincial government just handed everyone a good swift kick in the nuts just before Christmas saying that indoor gatherings over the holidays cannot be more than 10 and outdoor gatherings less than 25 people. Merry fn Christmas to you too you blood sucking politicians. I've just about had it with the idiotic covid restrictions. My left nut has more common sense and decency than any politician in Ottawa. 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Well Dude ya can piss and moan about it or do something. Maybe time to pack up the kids and move across the border. It is obvious whining isn't going to improve anything. What do you suggest?

Do not take the test, my god people please think carefully. PCR test did you know has 50% false positive. PCR tests aren't even meant to diagnose disease. When you take these test you're giving them good reason to force people to wear mask and get the covid vaccine. So why do you take these tests when it cost you money? If you don't have any symptoms there is no reason to take the test.

And it just leaves you to wonder if we're ever going to see 'normal' again because EVERY single time you even take a breath, there's yet another new variant. This BS has been ongoing for two years thus so far and it's getting more insane every single day. There was a teenager fined $12,500 in Sydney, Australia just for not wearing a mask and if it's not that, there have been people getting their butts kicked for non compliance? What madness are we living in?
