The Diocese of Toledo is coordinating relief efforts with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to help the people of Haiti and the devastation of the massive earthquake earlier this week. CRS is committed to bring experience and compassion quickly and effectively in response to emergencies, and are just as committed to being there long after the headlines fade, helping communities build back in a way that ensures they are better equipped to handle future shocks.

A second collection wil be taken in our parishes this weekend specifically for the relief efforts for the people of Haiti and those donations will be sent to CRS, who has already committed $5 million to fund relief effforts which are likely to go on for some time.

The needs are tremendous and your generous donations will help.

Bishop Blair Responds to Devastation in Haiti

"The death and devastation being experienced in Haiti are a reminder of the fragility of both human life and of the basic necessities we often take forgranted. Our prayers are with the suffering people of Haiti, remembering too all those who have died as a result of the earthquake. I am asking that a second collection be taken up in all our parishes next weekend (January 16-17) for the emergency response of Catholic Relief Services to Haiti in its great hour of need."
