Not too many fresh toons out there so..

If TSHTF and some entity decides to disarm us all, they're going to make a lot of progress for the first few days; we're not going to do to well resisting when we are one and they are many and a lot of us will likely die - a lot of them as well but they're going to outnumber us. The confiscation will not begin to stop until we band together as an unorganized militia, which will have its own problems; we're a fiercely independent lot, mostly unused to taking orders and almost totally ignorant of military operations. It takes a different mindset to be able to sacrifice territory - and personnel - in order to allow for victories later. And beyond fighting, which is relatively easy, there are the problems of intelligence and logistics which are quite complicated. We will need the expertise of ex-military people, business owners, and undercover-experienced cops and even with that we'll be forever behind the curve.
I hope we can pull off the militia thing if it ever becomes necessary ... and I hope it never does!
Edit: I see I forgot to mention one of the big reasons we would have problems with a resistance movement: reprisals. War, even guerilla war, is difficult when the enemy rounds up and publicly executes scores of civilians every time they are hit by the rebels - and the number executed drastically increases every time such a reprisal is deemed necessary.
