The GUERNSEY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE is auctioning of their collection of 4 Thompson model 1921 SMGs. I don't know the story behind it but it's a good way to raise money for the department if they are hurting financially.

I would love to bid, but they would be laughing too hard after opening it and seeing the offer...

I attended the auction and spoke at length with the Sheriff and the winning bidder. The Sheriff needed Board of Supervisors approval to sell the guns. it was a contentious matter for him to get permission. the guns were part of the County's history (they were purchased by a coal company and donated to the Sheriff to help break up a coal strike). the proceeds are to be used to buy police cars. the local gentleman that bought the guns did not know what they were, just that a group of town elders asked him to buy the guns so that they would stay in town as part of the County's history. I believe he intends to donate them to a local museum.
