Thumbs up Tiny New Pocket Pistol enters the market (its a 9mm not .380)

This could be interesting. The size and weight of a Kel Tec or Ruger LCP only this comes packing a full power 9mm load instead of the much weaker 380acp rounds. Look for it around Christmastime at your favorite gun shops.

MICROTECH Archangel 9mm
Written by Eric Poole. Author Archive Ľ
http://www.tactical-life.com/online/...ech-archangel/

Tactical-Life.com brings you the latest and greatest from the firearms industry straight from the 2009 NRA Show in Phoenix!

This pistol is one of those creations that everyone else is overlooking. It has been in the works for more than a year and under a shroud of secrecy, but Microtech was showing off two prototypes of their new pocket pistol at the NRA show: The Archangel. It is a tiny pistol that carries a good supply of 9mm in a pocket-size package. The prototypes lacked a textured grip but Microtech said that the production models will have a nice gripping surface.

A departure from other pocket pistols, the Archangel features a dual-paddle release that follows the trigger guard for ambidextrous control. Two models will be initially available. One that is all black and an attractive two-tone black/stainless. The pistol can be optioned for a threaded barrel for intended use with a suppressor (not included).

What is also nice is the Pelican hard case it comes in, along with Microtechís slim profile fast-action knife thatís perfect for carry. Two magazines come with each pistol and are constructed using the same indestructible material and waffle-cone design that is proven in their MSAR 556 carbine magazines. This will be a greatly received pistol and is a well-valued package. We canít wait to shoot one!

BTW, Lipsey's website shows the price to be $485.

Add another $100 if you want tritium night sights.

Bob I've had a Kel-Tec .380 for about 2 years and last weekend I got a Kel-Tec PF-9 (9mm luger) the .380 is a real easy to shoot pistol once you get used to the trigger and the PF-9 is just its big brother but the amount of recoil is a lot more with the 9mm. I'd hate to try a 9mm in a P3AT sized gun.

I've also got a Kel-Tec 380 and the nearly identical Ruger LCP 380. I agree that these little guns are easy to shoot. That said, I've not tried and of the really small lightweight 9mm pistols. My lightest 9mm is a 24-ounce 1911 style gun so that is certainly nothing that compared to the small guns or the light guns (like your PF-9). I think a P3AT sized 9mm would be a fistful of recoil.

I was actually studying my little Ruger LCP today (because that was today's carry gun) and the grip on the LCP is very flat on the sides. I think that if the grip was 'fatter' on the sides, and perhaps a bit longer, a 9mm could be a manageable round in a 'mousegun' but manageable is not necessarily fun to shoot.

I agree its really how the gun fits your hand. But if you make it too big it defeats the purpose of a pocket gun. Thats why I didn't put the magazine extention on my .380 or the 9mm, I've also heard that sometimes the extensions cause failure to feed or cause the magazine to back out due to pressure on the bottom of the mag due to recoil. By the way the sights on the pf9 are much better and somewhat ajustable, and it still fits well in the pocket just a bit heavier.

So. It's been a number of months. Has anyone gotten their hands (hand) on one these little beauties?

The fit and finish 'appears' superior to the Keltecs, and about equal to the Rohrbach. No?

I didn't bother to look up the specs, but if this is a DAO, I wouldn't be able to shoot it. Look how close the trigger guard is to the front of the trigger. There is not enough room for a man's finger to allow the trigger to fully extend in order to reset itself. I had this problem with the Kel-Tek PF-9 I owned, and could only shoot that gun with the very tip of my finger. I sold it at a loss to a friend's daughter whose fingers were very slender, but only after letting her take it to the range to try it out with her dad. This is a problem with some mouse guns. I replaced the PF-9 with the Taurus 738 TCP (.380 ACP), with adequate clearance for my working man's fingers.

Good point. Never thought of that with these little pea shooters.
