I've decided to buy that SW 345PD if money breaks in January. While it's like an N-frame, the shorter barrel makes it appear an odd size for leather.
And I do want leather. Most of my holsters are leather, and I do have one very nice Bianchi in an older style synthetic. I hate kydex. I just don't know who makes a good high, tight right kidney holster for a short N-frame. Does anyone own something like this? |

Don Hume makes a nice N frame holster, so does Galco. Or you might try a Yaqui Slide - with the short bbl, it'd probably work pretty well.

Thanks for the info, I'll google the home pages. (We only have one gun store in my area where these items are sold. Since Wisconsin has no CCW provision, the need is not a profit center.)

Before the tragic boating accident I had a really nice N Frame round butt in 45acp. Can't say I've ever carried it. Its a big gun and I'm not really big enough to hide a gun that size. But I've used a Don Hume JIT belt holster with other guns and found the holsters to be comfortable. If he makes n N frame holster it is probably a good one.

I am a bigger boy, and the gun is one of those lighter weight scandium revolvers. Usually people refer to those firearms as "carried a lot, shot a little."
My wife prefers revolvers. Who knows, if she likes it, I might have to surrender it as a home gun. |

If it is for outside carry, I would recommend Galco. I really like their holsters. If it is for inside waist band, try Tennessee Holster Company as they are a small company and if they don't have it, they can make it and guarantee you will be happy with it. Larry and Isabel are really good to work with.

Yeah, it would have to be OWB, not IWB. Not that there's a tactical advantage or disadvantage. I just don't like the feel of things like a "Summer Special."
And BTW, this isn't going to be an everyday thing. But there are times when something is a very comfortable idea. *sigh* I fear my neighborhood is changing. |

I have the Gaclo Fletch that I use for OWB and it has a nice forward cant as well as it sets up higher on the belt. It also has a snap strap across the back on the slide which is really easy to release on the draw. I'm a big fan of having a restraint on an OWB holster just for safety purposes.
I love all leather too. I despise kydex and I'm not really sure why .

I despise kydex, and I know why. It has a cheap feeling, and it's noisy as heck.
Some of my Graham knives come with kydex. I've updated all of them to leather except for my Stubby. It doesn't poke me in the thigh, and I bought it for the express purpose of being a hard use tool. I feel the same way about the Smith. I happen to come from the "slow speed brick" side of the handloading debate. As you know, I'm a 1911 fan. But I also love revolvers, and that puts me in the .44 SPL, .45 ACP and .45 Colt column. Yes, I own a 629-5, but it's not a deal breaker. I use it for plinking. And if the 325PD came in a .44 SPL it wouldn't break my heart. The model available is a .45 ACP, and I think it uses a full-moom clip, and that's just fine with me for quick reloading under duress. And as stated, my wife likes revolvers. She owns a .44 SPL. |
