Nikos,

Mine was broken when I got the cat too. I was able to find one in a nearby auto salvage yard. I'm not sure whether you've got such places there.

I also noticed that you can find them on ebay. But there are several versions of the 300-6 depending on the era. You'll be needing to find an older version.

Having the casting number is huge. Ford's casting number system provides quite a bit of information.

The first character, in this case D, signifies the decade. C = 1960's, D = 1970's, and so on.

The second character, 7, indicates the year within the decade.

The third character, T, indicates it's from a truck engine.

The fourth character, E, shows that it's an engine group part.

The next four digits are for a manifold or clamp.

The DC specifies the engineering version.

Underneath those numbers are the date the part was cast. It looks like B F 6 to me, but that would be wrong. The first character "B" should be a number signifying the year. I would speculate the production line worker couldn't find the correct "8" so he substituted a "B". The second character F indicates the month of June, and the 6 is the date. So the manifold was cast June 6, 1978.

To the left of the casting number is a symbol. It looks like CP, but it's actually CCP which means Cleveland Cast Parts.

If I were looking for a replacement, at a minimum I'd want a D7TE manifold, and ideally the DC engineering version. Perhaps a different engineering version would work, I don't know.

This might be a good replacement.

The engine is an industrial Ford 300....beefier than the typical Ford 300, parts are $$$$$ for OEM (a water pump was $800 when I was looking to replace mine). The Carb is a Holey 1940.....rebuild kit is about $30. (From the pictures, looks like the current one could use a little TLC).

I think we might have a brand new one on the shelf if you don't find one locally
Just let us know www.mn-outdoors.com ask for Bryan
