Figured I would update everyone, Thanks to the help of MNoutdoors we found out that it seems the BR100 and bombi uses a different diff, at least the later br100's anyways. my side axle gear is 45 tooth, the bombi's are 30 tooth. my pinion gears are 13 tooth while the bombi is 9 tooth. it does seem like I can change over both my side axle gears and all 6 pinion's over to the bombi era setup if I cant find a set of 45 tooth side axle gears. I just ordered a manual for an 89 BR100 which is the same year as my machine so hopefully soon I will have some part numbers to share and compare.

well yesterday I received my parts from mn outdoors as well as my parts book I found on ebay.

I compared part numbers and the only things different are the side axle and pinion gears
older diff uses the 30 tooth side axle gear 608 0126 00 and 9 tooth pinions 608 0127 00.
newer diff uses a 45 tooth side axle gear 608 0277 00 and 13 tooth pinions 608 0276 00

I also found a source for my side axle gears today. plannord equipment in Quebec had 8 in stock so I had them ship 2 my way. when they get here I will push the br100 back into the shop and get everything back together. I wasn't sure how long it would take to find the gears so it got the pull of shame from my old loader.

my photo bucket account did not like me the last few weeks so I couldnt post pics as I went so here they are all at once, I just got the cat back on the snow at 11:30 tonight.

pushed back into the shop.

new 4.27 gears

assembling the diff.

pulling old pinion.

pressing bearing on new pinion.

used a flap wheel to trim the new pinion.

close but enough clearance.

changing sprockets.

relined the steering bands. A pin punch in a vice and a transfer punch in hand works well the set the rivets, A 3rd hand from a friend would of made it a lot easier but it can be done by 1 person.

and here is what I done today. put the tracks back on.

fully assembled.

out for a test drive, new sprockets are noticeably quieter then the old, the new bands and the to-4 oil made turning MUCH better, the diff is a lot quieter now, and the speed is a lot better.

and last of all today I whipped up a hitch to tow snowmobile sleighs.

Your old sprockets looked to be monothane, which was used by some small company's for a while because is was easy to hand mix.the sprockets you have now are true polyurethane, and a different durometer.bet it good to be back on the snow.

MNoutdoors, the old sprockets had Bombardier written in them, not sure if they were actual bombardier sprockets or the lettering was Carried over from using one as a pattern for a mold. either way the sprockets I got from you guys is much better then my old ones.

snowcatt, the power with the new gears is still pretty good. I can defiantly notice the higher gears but it is still very usable in my application. I will hopefully find out how it tow's in a few days, my cousin is back in town and wants to get his 1980 gmc truck back on the road which is currently behind my uncles house snowed in, where its been all winter. he only lives directly across the street from me so rather then him do a lot of snow clearing I offered to try and pull it out with the BR.

It looks like you have the same air filter housing as mine it uses a NAPA GOLD 2055 or WIX 42055. Dimensions are:

Height: 3.22in (82mm)
Outer Diameter: 8.4in (213mm)
Inside Diameter: 6.58in (167mm)
CFM: 120

KickerM thanks a lot that was indeed the air filter I needed!

so I ended up building a 6 way blade a few weeks back but I never posted any pictures because I honestly hate dealing with photobucket lately, its been super slow and I can deal with mechanical stuff all day but computer stuff I have a short fuse for.

so first I removed the PO's awesome blade mount.

then I proceeded to build my own stuff.

I used a universal joint from a 5 ton truck I scraped as the main pivot instead of a spherical joint like bombardier used. its strong cheap and easy to rebuild.

one day I will shorten up the hoses to the proper length

used a 5 spool valve I had around the garage, gives me 2 spare for a future drag thats more fancy then what I have now.

I had to rob the belt drive pump off my little Hough loader, I put it on the Hough as a power steering pump when I converted it from manual steering to hydraulic, it was the only pump I had small enough to fit it the br100 so I put a new pump on the hough and robbed this one. tank is the power steering tank from the same 5 ton truck the U joint is from.

all finished on my front lawn, my neighbors must love me!

here she is now down at the lake in front of my parents place, I own the lot next to them but I'm still back filling the land so I park my cat and plane to block they're view of the lake. notice my super high tech drag made of 3 logs and 2 wire ropes..... hey it makes a runway so it does its job.

Awesome idea to use the u-joint there. I'll be curious to see how it holds up over the long term. Very cool.

Undy, the only problem I can foresee with the U joint is the needle bearings getting pounded flat over time. I know if you run a driveshaft at 0 degree you can have that problem so I'm thinking with the limited motion the needles might not rotate enough to keep them round. If this is the case I might play with machining 4 bronze bushings to replace the needles.

DAVENET, thank you sir!

snowcatt, thank you as well, I must say I like the 4.27 gears, with the 2.3L and automatic I haven't been in a situation yet where I wish I still had the stock gearing. with a 200 i6 I'd say go for the 4.27's for sure.

Northcoast, it made this cat a new machine, much more versatile now which is a great thing for a private owner trying to justify owning a snowcat of any kind becasue we all know here, they are not cheap! altho the look on some peoples faces when you mention you own a groomer/snow cat is priceless at times haha.

Definitely a nice job on the build. If you have a problem with the u-joint you could use a ball and socket assembly off an old bulldozer blade diagonal brace, like a cat d5 or d6 that would give you all motion also. Don
