If you can find then for about $200ea you will be doing good. I went just over, making a BO on eBay. I did see them on the net somewhere for just under $200.

Thats pretty cool. I feel the loss of light at the extreme angle is no big deal since you will have it mounted on something and that surface will block the light as well at the extreme tilt. How rugged do you think the unit will be?

You're right about the tilt, shouldn't need a whole lot of it. As far as rugged, it doesn't feel like cheap plastic, but I've resisted the urge to drop it on the floor to see. In use it shouldn't see more than an occasional branch at low speed. I do wonder what will happen when the mechanism gets packed with snow and ice (make that dust and cobwebs for snot tracs). It has a 'captured' plastic rack and pinion as seen below.

That could be a problem on a Kristi Snowcrap. Looks to me that might be a problem. I bet the light will heat the whole unit up a bit though and it should melt the snow some bit. The unit should be stored with the tilt up. Maybe even pull a cloth sack over it if it will be stored outside.

Hadn't thought about the heat from the light. Might just work. I don't know why everyone says you're so dumb.

(just an F-Troop reference, ok?)

Mike are you also saying the new/spare parts are worth more than the machine they are intended for?

I'm not trying to start anything here. Really i'm not....:thumb: REALLY????

Mouse ear .... A "Tele Tubbies" plastic flash light duct taped to the Snot Trac is not the same thing as a Go Light . I installed a Go Light on the KT7 and it is very impressive at the amount of light it throws out . I'll be putting one on the KT4 when I restore her .

Oh and your kids want their flash light back too .

Bill I happen to agree with you about the new parts being worth more than the Intended recipient but I cant comment on that,

My cat is on the move this weekend. I'm taking it from Boise to Ely (enemy territory). SnoOp has offered to do a little work on it for me so it'll be ready for this winter. But first I have to get him to sign a non-disclosure agreement so he can't steal any of it's ultra-advanced, scientifically-engineered, snow-conquering secrets.

My Kristi won't be in the circus tent. Mikey tried to clear his Slow Master out of the tent, but it's not going so well. He hired a crane with an electromagnet so he could move the parts quickly. I tired to remind him that his kitty is made of aluminum but he's sure there is something wrong with the electromagnet.

Ok .... Now let me understand this correctly :argueing: . You and Booger Bob spend all day in your little circus tent adjusting the tracks on the KT3 and your total comment is "Tracks Done" .

WEll Hell Mouse Ear , That explains everything in complete detail , now don't it :thumb: !!!!
Where's the pictures ?
Where's the detail diagram ?
Where's the dialogue?

Mouse Ear .... You were raised better than to try a stunt like that . Now you just march your butt back in here and give the details and how toos . Its a shame that Bogus Bob may see that two word post you made . And where the hell is Booger Bob ??? Still trying to get his fake nose off ? I got news for him ..... Its real !!! Tracks done my ass ......

Loosened tensioner, cut out a 6" slab-o-track, and got a look at what's behind the tires.

I see that many of the older machines have the wooden grousers. How durable are they. I'm guessing you would have to be allot more cautious going over rocky, stumpy terrain with those. Would changing them out for metal ones be a good idea? Just curious.

Well, this set has been in use for 44yrs. I would consider that durable. But I don't think this cat did much summer work where it might have encountered rocky, stumpy terrain.

I do beleive that is the first 2 belt track design that I have seen on a KT3 . I am sure there must be others . I also noticed that your back "side windows" appear to be installed in a rubber weather stripping where's my kT3 has a aluminmum frame ,much like a house window . I like yours better . Seriously consider the HDPE plastic for new cleats when the time comes . You won't be sorry . I paid about $375 including shipping to get mine from back East . Really neat stuff and you can even get Redwood colored with wood grain embossing so it looks like wood . Check out the close ups on my KT7 thread .
Your exhaust system is very similar to mine too . I have an idea to custom build a cargo rack and run the exhaust through the side tubes so it can terminate at the rear of the Cat .
The clam shell is leaking a tad but I would not mess with it unless it gets excessive . There are no gaskets you can replace . Best just to use silicone sealant when the time comes . Just make sure it has some gear oil (pint) as this is how the #50 roller chain inside recieves lubricate .
Does your unit have any aftermarket engine gauges ?? My Kt3 has nothing and its a little scary .

It looks good Bob . keep the pictures coming .

By the way .... Has Mouse Ear gained weight ??? In the pictures he kinda looks like he may have let himself go a little . Maybe its just bloating from all those Pickle Eggs and Beer .:moon: :yum:
