Once you buy the TV, you can buy a surround system. Then you can get a cable subscription. And then a game.

Or

You could keep all that money and invest it, so someday you could easily afford some of the nicer things in life.

If I had the money would I just buy one of those at standard price or even on a so-so sale????? NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
I would have bought the thing 40% off! Or wait till I saw a price at that lvl.

I dont buy anything full price unless I MUST. Even..... romance!

You are reading ads for things you do not "need". I bet you spend money by Christmas for this. Watching those ads will simply strengthen the igottahaveit in you. You can kill the igottahaveit badguy buy not shopping. Stop shopping. Pick 50 public companies randomly and start researching and tracking. Save money while doing so. In a few months you'll feel good about investing in at least one, then open an online account and dump your money in. And watch them as if the comapny is yours, because, it is.

Ok. So when you invest money after researching a stock/company and you could either gain money or lose it because of said transaction, youre saying its something other than gambling.

Are you trying to bullshit yourself...... or us?

OK..... to be FAIR......

............ But with that said, it would be beneficial if everyone could agree on what the terms mean, so we don't need to make our definitions explicit every time we want to use them. To this end, I offer the following definitions, which are built from the various characterizations in the above section:

Investing - "Any activity in which money is put at risk for the purpose of making a profit, and which is characterized by some or most of the following (in approximately descending order of importance): sufficient research has been conducted; the odds are favorable; the behavior is risk-averse; a systematic approach is being taken; emotions such as greed and fear play no role; the activity is ongoing and done as part of a long-term plan; the activity is not motivated solely by entertainment or compulsion; ownership of something tangible is involved; a net positive economic effect results."

Gambling - "Any activity in which money is put at risk for the purpose of making a profit, and which is characterized by some or most of the following (in approximately descending order of importance): little or no research has been conducted; the odds are unfavorable; the behavior is risk-seeking; an unsystematic approach is being taken; emotions such as greed and fear play a role; the activity is a discrete event or series of discrete events not done as part of a long-term plan; the activity is significantly motivated by entertainment or compulsion; ownership of something tangible is not involved; no net economic effect results."

Someone else attempted to 'splain it to ya.

Ya didn't get it then, you ain't gettin it now.

Go piss your money away at a casino. See how long it takes to go bust. The Indians will love ya like a brudder.

There's a greyhound race track near Kenosha. And there's always the horse tracks in the Chicago area. They'd love ya there as well. Heck, you can go to an off-track betting hall.
