Snow-Trac from Iceland

Greetings to all you SnowTrac fans, I am a happy owner of ST4 SnowTrac sn.2014 year 1977 and there is also another SnowTrac sn.894 year 1967 belonging to my company.
That one is of the older type. I have been doing some research here in Iceland and I have found out that there are at least 30 SnowTrac's around the country and most of them are in good running condition. A friend of mine owns 6 SnowTracs where 5 are in perfect condition. Although the SnowTrac is a child of it's time it is still very usful for over snow transportation. I was going to upload some photos but I am having trouble with the size and dimension I will try again later.
Bjorn

Edit by B_Skurka: I happened to have one of Bjorn's photos so I figured I would post it for him to give everyone an idea of his Snow Trac. But wait for the really good photos that show him crossing rivers, when he gets the hang of posting photos you will all be very jealous!

This Snow Trac has the most interesting cab confirguration I have seen. On large windshield and a cab that seems wider than standard. I'd like to hear more about it. Was this cab modified or did it come from the factory that way?

HEY GUYS THAT IS NOT FAIR.

If you are going to speak in Icelandic, you should at least provide us with a link to an internet translator that helps us understand what you are saying!!! Near as I can tell, you told Bjorn good night and that you would call him later??? Am I close?

Bjorn, you are correct, those are the photos I hoped you would post. There are a few others that I hope you take the time to post also. And I'd hope that you can explain what you use the Snow Trac for. I'm guessing it is something to do with maintainence of the lighthouse, electric lines or something like that? It is a work vehicle for you, yes?

I was just joking about the Icelandic talk, but if you do that, I'd like a translation!

On a serious note, I would love to see some interior photos of the wide cabin unit too!

I bought HEIDAR the M1284 SnowTrac back in 2002 from a local rescue squat in Borgarfjordur Iceland the name of the squat is HEIDAR, later I named the SnowTrac after the squat the cabin modification was done many years ago there was mainly one man who did the work he was a farmer and a member of the Rescue squat HEIDAR. the main reason for the modification was to make it possible to carry a ambulance basket in side the SnowTrac, the doors were also rebuild so the part on the right side of the main door is also a door, to make this possible they shifted the main door hinges from right to left. When I bought the SnowTrac there were only 2300Km and 400 hours on the meters......more photos from the clacier ,,Mýrdalsjökull,,

Do you use the Snow Trac for work? Or for fun? Or both?

Bob if you still have hair on your head, I think you might have a chance....You could move to the island of Hrísey in the north....where I took these SnowTrac pictures in jan/feb 2005.....still give it a thought, before you decide....Bjorn
