***casino's***
This is a real sore spot with me and Junkman knows it... For one, the casino's in CT are exempt from federal and state taxes. This is the number one reason I am against the Indians getting recognition. Now I am not against those remaining from the original Indians, I am against their totally free ride in which most still are at poverty level and a few law firms are raking in billions per year... The people that work there get 1099's at the end of the year, There are lot's of people living around us that work there in various positions, Of course there are a few privately run Kiosks and small snack bar type places that do pay fed/state tax on the employees. THESE ARE NOT THE INDIANS.. Governor Wiecker was the one who forced them to pay a small percentage of the one arms and this by law, goes to education and nothing else. I don't know why everyone thinks they are paying taxes because THEY ARE NOT, they are exempt....
Second thing,
It is our family property that they are after, along with some of the neighbors,. I have the written offers here, and they are worse than disgracefull to say the least. Anyone thinking they will be millionaire's if the Indians buy you out for a casino,, THINK AGAIN.. Their lawyers are cheap pricks, offering 70% of town assessment... When you don't accept the offer, a funny thing happens,,,, The values drop below rock bottom, all of a sudden serious board of health problems come up and the harrassment is beyond reproach..... THen most are locked into not even being able to pay off an exisiting mortage.. THese Indian lawyers are real creeps and don't care who they burn in the process.. It's OK to live ten miles away, in a very off beaten place that only wild animals can find,, it is a lot different if it is your property and having to put up with these tribes lawyer groups (All of which, come out of Minn, MN).. The Indians want better health, education, even help build homes, I have no problem with that, I have a major problem with these lawyer groups (USING INDIAN REPRESENTATION) to better the lawyers and their secret financial backers,... SO NO, I am adamantly opposed to INDIANS having more casino's. I guess I'll have to bring Junkman to another multi state meeting, where local municipalities showed proof of extreme hardship because of new casino's. One would think they would bend over backwards and help things like roads, water ,sewer if needed maybe a new fire truck or something... Quite the opposite is true, at least in CT>>>
Third,
If these casino's were privately owned and operated, then I would be for it.. I watched at one of these meetings (local town selectman, state senators and representatives) where in Reno, each casino is responsible for some municipal function. For instance, two of the largest out there pay their taxes which supports local police only. Other casino's pick up the cost for garbage collection, and other local municipal functions as needed, Also, they, on ocassion are not afraid to buy a new cruiser, fire truck, somethig significant for the local girl or boy scouts and this type of thing. And, best of all, THEY REALLY DO PAY FED/STATE Taxes!! They are not exempt...
