Next up, one of my previous jobs, as some of you may know, was weapons testing, force protection, and counter-terrorism for the DoD. A big part of the job was, well, blowing stuff up.
Here is the first of a 5 part video of one of the large scale tests we did at White Sands Missile Range.
It's purpose, as it'll say in the video, was to test the survivability of weapon systems when subjected to the effects of a nuclear (nucular for you Reps) blast. In this case, rather than setting off a nuke, which wasn't allowed by treaty, we ignited an oxygen/aluminum powder mix and detonated a buttload of ANFO to simulate the heat and blast of a nuke. I'll get the rest of the video digitized and uploaded as I get time. I also have a lot of smaller test shots of Patriots, stealths, GBUs, cruise missiles, FAEs, etc to digitize as I get the time.
I was standing next to the cameraman in the opening scene where you see the shockwave ripping across the desert. It knocked the ballcaps off about half the guys standing there, about 5 miles from GZ!
