I know its still January, there is still snow on the ground, but planting season will be starting soon enough.

Found this article at "GAME AND GARDEN" about how to graft apple trees.

Not going to put the whole article here, there are instructional photos at the link along with the article, figured it would just be easier for people to go there and read the whole thing. We have a mini-orchard, only 10 trees of various different fruits, but I may have to give this a try.

Good Lord. I haven't grafted a fruit tree in more than 30-years.

I did it a la Percy Thrower of the BBC Gardener's World, the UK's first celebrity gardener. The method I used was different from that described in the article but I was grafting on to an already growing tree. I did it for a bit of fun and to see what would happen It worked very well. I had a tree that produced 3 different kinds of apples. It was wonderful. :biggrin::biggrin:
