Who is/are the most famous people you've at least met?

It has to be at least a handshake or conversation. Being in the crowd at a something like Trump rally doesn't count unless you met him personally.

For me:

Sports
I met/spoke with OJ Simpson back in the days when he played for the Buffalo Bills. I was pretty young though so there wasn't much in terms of an adult conversation. My parent's best friends were neighbors with Simpson so I'd see him and his family now and then.

I used to hang out with the Pittsburgh Steeler's Ron Erhardt (offensive coordinator) back in the 1990's. He surprised me back in 1994 when he gave me a football signed by the entire time as a wedding present.

Music/TV/Entertainment
Clint Black (Country singer). Met him back in the 90's after a concert. Nice guy!
Vanessa Williams. I "think" she was my cousin's roommate in college but I met her when she was considering buying the house next to us.

Business
Had an introduction with Apple's Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak many moons ago when they just came out with their Apple II computer. They were looking to possibly work with the company I was with at the time.

Also knew and would do things (beers, sailing, golfing...) with several Presidents/CEO's of large corporations.

Politics
Nobody too high. Saw our State Representative putting up a sign in front of my house so invited him in to the party that was being held. Had a few beers with him.

Tom Cruise in London, shook his hand in a receiving line outside a theater. He's short.
Doris Day in Monterey California- she was very nice and down to earth.
Gary Lewis (of The Playboys).
Angus Young of ac/dc.
Joe Perry from Aerosmith.
Dale Earnhardt, Mario Andretti, quite a few from racing.
I got very close to Pope John Paul ll in Chicago.

My two favorites aren't that famous but meant a lot to me. John Huntsman who essentially created our modern consumer plastics industry, and Jack Taylor who started Enterprise Leasing in the basement of Moore Cadillac with five used cars.

I met John Huntsman once at a packaging seminar and he changed my career path to what I am today. I worked for Jack Taylor for 7 years and he made my business ethic what it is today.

I did Baby sitting and mowed the lawns for a couple of St Louis Cardinals back in the day when Baseball players were "normal" people. Kenny Boyer's son learned to water ski at summer camp behind my boat.

I could include former President Harry S. Truman. But I was about 4-5 at the time. I'm told I met him but I barely remember much more than a spending a summer day on his front lawn as Bess and my Grandmother were friends. Supposedly, he patted me on the head and, having no understanding of who it was I had just encountered, I ran off to play with my cousins.

As I understand it, 'til the day he died, he also had no recollection of the momentous event.

Met Marvin Hagler in a Nevada truck stop in the middle of nowhere. Got an autograph for our teenage son. Met Jerry Reed in a casino in Reno, just an after his show handshake.

Tommy Heinson, Boston Celtics. I was in uniform traveling through Logan Airport on my way to Great Lakes for EMA school. I introduced myself, told him I was a big fan of his in high school so he bought me a beer and it was a pretty awesome 15 minutes shooting the shit with an NBA super star.

Carmen Basillio, world welterweight and middleweight champions. He and my Dad were friends and they were getting drunk together at the local VFW. I asked my Dad how he and Basillio came to know each other and he said it was a long story which is always the polite way of saying none of your friggin business. :yum:

That is my 15 minutes of fame. :yum::yum:

In the sports department, I met both Roger Penske and Rusty Wallace. Not intentionally. We drove down to martinsville Virginia to watch a nascar race back in 2001. After the race, we drove down to Charlotte NC to tour a couple of the race shops and museums. We were just leaving Penske racing. I had my hand on the door when Roger Penske walked in and bumped shoulders with me then stopped and talked to us for a minute. We went outside and were on our way to the car when a black Lincoln navigator come screeching into the parking lot almost running us over. My brother, being a HUGE rusty Wallace fan recognized him and walked over to his vehicle. We stood outside having a conversation with him one on one until his cell phone rang. It was roger Penske asking where he was as they had a meeting. Rusty invited us inside and signed a few things for us.

For entertainment, I was in sault ste marie Ontario for a wedding. We were just getting on the elevator when a cute blonde along with a couple rocker looking guys also got on. The blonde was all over my son who was 6 months old at the time. We talked for a minute then got off. As we walked by the front desk, the hotel staff said "I see you met them". We asked who and were told the band Sum 41 and Avril Lavigne. That's right after she had died her hair blond so I didn't recognize her. They were playing an outdoor concert beside the hotel.

Canadian eh!!!

I know some of you might find this hard to believe ...I but I met, on more than one occasion and broke bread with the infamous Big Dawg. For real. He is as kewl in person as he comes across here on the forums.

Otherwise I've seen Paul McCartney, Tom Petty Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and more all on stage. No hand shake head nod or nothing personal about these meetings.

I suppose the most famous was the Duke of Edinburgh. I was working in Falmouth, Cornwall. The D of E was flying in to Falmouth to start the Tall Ships Race and needed somewhere for his helicopter to land. It just so happens we had a helipad. He came in to the office to thank us for its use. Nice guy. Also met Prince Charles, actually met him twice. Met him as a teenager when we went to Gordonston School to play rugby. He was pretty wimpy. A few years back met him again in the small Scottish village of Ballater. That was just a nod and a "Hello" kind of meeting.

I've known quite a few famous soccer players, probably the most famous was Dennis Law. I worked with and was friendly with his brother George.

In the entertainment world it would probably be singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves. We've known her, and her family, since she was a kid.

I've met our old congressman, Jeb Hensarling many times and liked him as a person. Our District got gerrymandered and we were moved to Louie Gohmert's District. Met him a couple of times and don't quite know what to make of him???

Oh! Forgot to mention that I met Margaret Thatcher on a British Airways flight from Dallas to London. I think that she was visiting her son in Dallas. I addressed her as "Madam Prime Minister" and she kind of warmed to me after that. She made those stewardesses life hell on that flight.

I was in Steve Wariner's class in high school. Friends with Terry Kimball he is lesser known but he manages singers including Toby Kieth. Senator Birch Bayh was my dad's roommate in college and is still a family friend. Rode in an elevator with Bart Starr and Vince Lombardi. My dad is a Marine and at reunions, I met Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller, Robert Leckie, Eugene Sledge, Mitchell Paige and some more whos' names escape me at the moment. Met Robert Lee Stewart who is a retired brigadier general of the United States Army and a former NASA astronaut.

My dad was asked to be in the 500 Festival Parade in 2017 and I met Ryan Hunter-Reay. A nice guy let me go into his garage and touch his car. :)
I would say my dad Carl Scott but he is only famous locally. He might show up someday on a special being made about Bob Hope. My dad is the last surviving Marine who was entertained on Pavuvu, August 1944.

Good Lord

James Carville in an airport, I called him a hack. He ignored me and walked away. Small mousy man.

Rulon Gardner, nice guy. We were riding the tram at the airport, I had already noticed him and he stood right beside me. I gave him the second look of question and he shook his head up and down. Talk to til we parted at the concourses.

Tony Dorsett, airport/airplane again. We took the same Sunday flight to Dallas from Pittsburgh many times. As far as conversation, once was enough. Arrogant POS, pretty much snubbed anyone I saw approach, wasn't much better to airplane staff.

Grif Jenkins (FOX news), got interviewed and a pic with him during a HC townhall held by the dead snake Spector.

Shaq O'Neal, Hooters in Baton Rouge. He's as fun in person. Bunch of guys from work went, we was busting his balls a bit and he came and BS'ed awhile. Did a hoola hoop contest with one of the guys from my table ......... He got beat by Kiwi Jarreau! Fun time

Dale Brown (former BB coach at LSU). Test drove and purchased a Buick LeSabre that was loaned to him by a dealer owner I knew. He was due a new one. Very personable, it was why he was adored.

David Allen Coe, many years back at Daytona. He was getting ready to play at the IronHorse saloon. Met at the bar, exchanged pleasantries.

Ward Burton for one of his Wildlife Foundation sporting clays benefits at Nemacolin. He visited every group while shooting. I always shoot my purple O/U at those kind of things and he just had to shoot it. Got pics somewhere ......... very nice man and not at all very big.

Lee Trevino ...... wife of a buddy in Baton Rouge was an event organizer for a large Women's Hospital. Gary and I went and picked him up at the airport in the hanger area, he was in his personal jet. Fun man

Like PG, more than a few NASCAR racers, I use to be a fanatic when I went to Talledaga. All the Allison's, Stewart (Eldora), Elliot, Yarbourgh, Petty, Kulwicki, jeez I could go on.

Every biker has met Willie G!
