There is a lot of potential in the 2100's

If you do not mind some serious mods to get them narrowed up so you can haul them...

Anything 102" wide or under and you're set..

Mine being 9' wide on the blade all we have to do is put a wide load sign on the machine , and towing vehicle dont need any special permits.

That right there makes towing a Cat troublesome.

At 8'-6" (102") you don't need to worry about such stuff.

Except common sense ....

Well it is a lot easier then the 155 komatsu or d9 or 275 michigan loader i used to have moved !!!!14'4" with 2 pilot cars. i guess it depends which state you live in. We can just move down the road with wide load banners up to 10'6" without any other permits. If it is snowing we cant move anything oversize,or holidays.

Oregon is similar.

I was in heavy trucking from 1991 to 2012.

Ran a heavy haul transfer (Slam bang)

I never had to deal with width stuff..... just ran an annual permit for running 105,500 on 8 axles

But what you mentioned sounds about right

Newbie here, just made a deal for a 2100b myself, thought Iíd post pics to help with the tilt cab question. Not sure what year mine is, but definitely a tilt cab. Hinges on passenger side and handles on the driver side with a scissor latch behind the cab... looks like one bolt on the driver side user the hood holds it down - Iíd imagine one to be at the back but havenít looked yet. Hoping to get it running this week.

I see that one does have a hinged cab. Is it a late machine ? mines a 71. Maybe the hinge was a option with a automatic transmission. I know it would be a PITA with a standard and clutch pedal to hinge it. Is that machine a diesel? thought it might be with that muffler setup. Don't look to be in bad shape, good luck.

I donít really know if itís a late model or not, Iíll have to check the plate when I get it home. Youíre right, anything but an auto tranny would make it a job to tilt the cab. This one actually has the 391, I wish it were a diesel. Looks like all the wire looms have built in slack to move out of the way and the transmission cable is the same. The previous owner said itís been sitting for years so I just hope the tracks arenít going to fail right away... sure gonna make the 6 miles of dirt road I have to plow easier to manage!

the tipping cabs with a stick is super slick.

Pull the bent nail out of the clutch pedal.

spin the already loose shifter handle off and over you go.

high lift jack is a back saver.

make sure the battery is out of the interior battery box, the clevis will remove a window faster than you can say well shit.

Ö. well, if the 391 ever needs to be pulled ,... find a mid 80's f350 , with an old 6.9L or one of the first 7.3L ( Navistar) , actually 2nd gen. 7.3L ; non-turbo ( thicker block coolant walls) with an auto . probably bolt right up..... wallaÖ.

That does sound like a slick tilt for the sticks, except the shattered window... maybe thatís why mine is...

7.3 swap is a great idea. I havenít even got it home and youíre already giving me ideas about a rebuild haha. Should put some ramps on it to carry the Steiger (Ridge Runner) around....

I had a b series cummins sitting right next to the 2704 et ford engine I pulled out of mine. if you are doing the swap go with a 6 b cummins its the same cid as the 2704 but the 6b is actualy a smaller motor by dimension 4 inches shorter and not as tall to. the one thing you have to remember is the 2100's have a marine dual sump oil pans I believe its for the extreme angles they are capable of operating on but the pans are wide and not very deep with lots of baffles in them.
