Systems Worldwide Crippled in Massive Ransomware Attack

Hospitals across England hit by large-scale cyber-attack

Looks like Microsoft has had a resolution in Windows Update for a couple months now but institutions ignored the Microsoft warnings and/or are running old versions of Windows that are no longer supported.

Appears to be spread by pfishing.

UK hospital system is paralyzed. Spain's telecom and gas utilities affected. Asia, Canada, New York, Japan, Hong Kong, , Eastern and Western Europe all reporting issues.

What it does is highlight the main problem with the National Health System ... lack of funds. 90% of NHS computers are running on Windows XP which hasn't been supported by Microsoft for over 2 years. And why hasn't it been updated ... no money!!!!

For the life of me, I simply cannot believe these people are not using a Linux based system. Instead, my good Lord, they are using Windows XP.? Have these people lost their friggin' minds?

As Forrest Gump used to say, stupid is as stupid does.
