A simple question

Were you born an atheist like I, and did your immediate culture decide for you what religion you should be?

May 6th 1992, never a doubt after that date. I am no religion, but I have the Lord as my Savior........end of story

Was introduced to the Bible at an early age. I keep the belief by choice. I can not look at some of the things that are, and believe in a 'big bang'.
IE, the complexity of the human brain and/or body.

Wow! How did I miss this thread?

Born a Baptist. Mom made me go to every church service, Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night. I got tired of that real fast, and when I turned 16, I got a job and made sure I was scheduled to work Sundays. Joined the Marine Corps at 18 and began my education.

I began to question Christianity because I simply could not believe that God would send everyone to Hell who did not accept Christ as their savior. I happened to be born Christian by chance. What about all those children who were born Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Bhuddist, Pagan, etc.? So I started searching and questioning. And the more I searched, the more I learned and the more I questioned Christianity and all organized religion.

I learned that there is no historical record of Jesus's existence in the writing of the scribes of the time he was said to have lived. I also learned that there are numerous "saviors" of virgin birth with a mother named Mary, or some similar sounding name.

Some interesting links on that subject. Each link is 10 minutes or less:

The thing that puzzles me and you have touched on it, is being born a into a faith. I don't know the stats but very few people change from one faith to the other. They stick with the faith they were born with, and believe their faith is the correct one. This in itself indicates to me that that there is no rational, logical thought process in choosing their beliefs. Now before anyone jumps and says I have thought out my faith, remember nearly every other person in all faiths will say the same.
