now that the varriator and trans is out of the way now is the time to move the floor air duct to the center of the fire wall ,so it's not blowing intense heat on your feet. I would also suggest to changing the wiring harness so wires going to the passengers side of the engine bay run across the fire wall ,this will make pulling the engine in the future a lot easier

I do appreciate all the good advise but haven't posted all the way up to date yet so may not be doing any cutting on the firewall but was contemplating the soundproofing

needless to say all the wearing surfaces on the suspension were damaged by the same rednecks responsible for the hole in the hood etc

Yes , being in Kamloops yours must be ex CN rail too , what do you think the cut was for? Mine was found in Salmon Arm and when I got it it had this ridiculous cow catcher bumper on it.

my ST25 casting was "repaired " by the same clowns that did that sweet suspension repair in the first pics so I got a new one from someone in France that had an ad on this forum. Notice the "birdturd welding"and the castings are lined up together so the difference in length is how far off the repair was. the other pics are more phenolic bushings and install

In post fifteen you have a nice analog hour meter with a minute hand.

Could I get your source and part number?

Thanks mike

My ST had a big cow catcher like yours as well.

I think the bite was for the capstan winch. I have seen some on the forum that had the electric capstan winch located there.

Just a guess of course.

I am guessing the early CN telecom units routed the exhaust out the grill mesh then directed the two pipes- one over the other- across the passenger fender. all three units I have seen with the "bite" also had the cut away areas on both the outer edges of the grill mesh, while the elongated curve allows an exhaust pipe to lay horizontally through the cut away area.
I was admiring that 'roo bar and wondering how much it weighed:biggrin: no wonder your sheet metal was so hammered at those hood/ fender/ cab joints.

Can you post a pic of the shift pattern plaque on your dash, if you have one? did you give any thought to beefing up the side plates on those boogie carriers? so many of them show signs of warping or twisting that I have been looking at beefing mine up when they come off.

yah I thought about that but there is a degree of urgency in this resto as I have accepted an offer on my house which unfortunately means my garage , so I skipped that after beating them back into shape . the other thing is I,m pretty sure I won't be beating the crap out of it like the last clowns did
