Snow Master Transmission

New member
Little background i lost first gear (earlier post: http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/showthread.php?t=31891)

the number on the transmission is 211301211G

so now my questions are:

1. any suggestions for finding a transmission?
2. would a transmission from a VW van work (my friend has one in the yard)?
3. Any thoughts or suggestions about pulling the old transmission out and putting in a new one?

the transmissionon the early vans and snow tracs were almoste identacal except for a gear difference i think the final drive ratio was lower other wise they should be interchangable here is the other things to consider the early vans had the ring gear flipped for gear reduction hubbs and a paddle drive axle direct replacement some of the newer snow tracks had a spline drive axle but i don't think the bus trans had spline drives with gear reduction hubbs so if you have a big wheel and 3/5 band track you may have a problem with the trans but its worth a try
