PayPal Scam

I just got this on one of my email addresses. Interesting that I got it at that email address because I don't have it tied to my PayPal account. An obvious scam! Obviously anyone who gets anything like this might want to check their PayPal account before they click on a link like the one below!

The link goes to a very realistic looking page that is still a PayPal spoof, DON'T FALL FOR IT.

Here is a part of the URL of the spoofers: http://peaselawfirm.w.midcoast.com/www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscrcmd=_dispute_transaction . . .

It gets directed to that address from a different URL.

Got the same scam about two weeks ago. I can see where one might fall for it, since it looks like the real deal. :tiphat:

For some of these, all the graphics and boilerplate text are called right from Paypal's server. But the blank user/password fields where they ask you to reply are hosted at the scammers.

So you can't judge if its authentic by the appearance of the message - that really is Paypal's page in front of you.

When I decide to forward one of these to spoof@paypal.com I first do a simple Fwd then I click the email equivalent of 'view page source' and forward the raw html text to them in a second Fwd. The bogus site is evident in that view.
