Should our Schools be teaching anti Trumpism?

A group of moms in Saratoga Springs, New York has decided to fight back against what they call the radical leftwing indoctrination that has infested the local school system.
They call themselves the “Conservative Chicks” and one of their leaders contacted me after reading my new book, “The Deplorables’ Guide to Making America Great Again.”
She realized it was time to take a stand after a teacher at the local high school led a classroom presentation on fascism that included a graphic portrayal comparing President Donald Trump to Hitler and Mussolini.
That’s right, folks.
A tenth grade teacher at Saratoga Springs High School led a discussion on the rise of fascism during World War Two by referencing President Trump.

“It’s total indoctrination,” said Melissa, the parent who contacted me. She asked that I not use her last name. “It’s not their place to indoctrinate our children. It’s their job to teach the facts. Healthy debate is one thing but this definitely crossed the line.”
The entire lesson plan was posted on the school district’s website. But once I started poking around and asking questions, the lesson was hidden behind a password protected wall.
“Trump has absolutely no relation to World War Two. There’s no reason why he should be included with Stalin, Mussolini or Hitler,” the mom said. They are trying to link him to the leaders of that time. That crosses a line.”
Another graphics listed “early warning signs of fascism”:
· Nationalism
· Obession with national security
· Religion and government intertwined
· Rampant sexism
· Fraudulent elections
· Obsession with crime and punishment
“The fact they posted this on the school’s website shows just how brazen these teachers are,” another concerned parent told me.
“Liberal teachers need to be reminded it’s not okay to use their platform to push their agenda on our kids,” the parent added.
Supt. Mike Piccirillo defended the lesson – telling me that “teaching about fascism as a political movement in the context of World War II is part of the curriculum.”
So how does President Trump factor into World War Two?
“The cartoons you referenced were used as examples to introduce a student debate regarding how some media may be portraying our government as exhibiting the early signs of fascism,” he said.
The question posed to students was “do you believe this is fair and/or accurate?”
So at some point did the teacher explain to the classroom that such comparisons were not only unfair but also grossly inaccurate?
The superintendent did not answer that question.
“These teachers are really pushing a liberal agenda on the kids,” one of the moms told me.
I commend the Conservative Chicks for taking a stand and embracing the call to action i

Its obvious that teachers should teach anti-Trumpism.

They should also teach our children that free markets are bad, socialism is good.

I say this because they have been doing such a fine job educating our kids for so long that clearly they know better than we do. After all test scores for our students have been falling against their peers internationally. The SAT and other standardized tests had to be re-calibrated to 'improve' the results of students. Standards in education have been lowered for the past decade (or two). So obviously they know what is good and right. Oh, and what is just. Because now there are not just 2 genders ... you know the guys who have a penis and the girls who have a vagina are no longer valid genders. Now they are teaching our kids that there are 28 self-identifiable genders. And while an election can be held and someone can win, the losers can claim that the President is not their President ... to which I must ask, but what if he 'self-identifies' as your President?

For these reasons my son spent 12 years attending a Christian Academy. All I needed to do was volunteer for more OT so I could keep writing the checks.

No government indoctrination centers for our family. It was bad then, it is much worse now.

The waste of human flesh call the NEA should just shut the fuck up and worry about teaching our children a basic education and making sure they are prepared for either a trade school or college. Sports and the other stuff is fine and needed, but a basic education is the #1 reason they are there.

It is worse than ever but the phoneme is not recent. Back in 1967 I got into it with my political science professor over several issues of the day. And with my American History Professor for interpretations of the Constitution. My grades in those classes suffered for it. And at the time I was a liberal Democrat.

I feel for kids who don't have the courage to stand up for the truth. It's a tough choice and the repercussions can be severe.

As a pharmacist in a college town for 28 years I came in contact with a bunch of college professors and other folk employed at the university. Some were conservative but must were pretty liberal and a few were hard core liberals, who would force their liberal agenda on their students who were a captive audience. And if they didn't go along with the agenda they didn't pass the class. I had several pharmacy interns who would repeat their professors liberal trash like it was gospel, but when I questioned them they didn't have a clue why they felt that way, except that they had heard it from professor so and so. These are smart kids but they take what their professors say as the truth without question. NOT a good thing!

And this is one of my major gripes with what is going on on so many college campuses over the past decade (or two).

Alternate thought/opposing theory is often dismissed as false. Often forbidden from being discussed. Today there is massive censorship on college campuses that really is doing a huge disservice to our entire society.

Bob, this has been common place on college campuses since at least the 70s.

So more like the last four or five decades. Thank the drug addled hippies who are now in charge of education.

Guess that doesn't surprise me. I graduated in '82 but I went to a college that did, and I believe still does, value debate. The school was 100% private, all male. And by private I mean it would not take federal $. If you had a federal scholarship, it rejected the scholarship and gave you a school scholarship in its place so it didn't have to adhere to federal rules/regulations. Was, still is, considered one of the premier liberal arts (in the classical sense) colleges in the nation.

Used to (maybe still does?) have an open keg of beer in the student union every Friday afternoon starting about 3pm, self serve, no age check. Used to, and probably still does, have a debate program called "it seems to me that" which allowed/encouraged ANYONE to get up on stage and talk about a topic of their choice ... the kicker was that people were then encouraged to ask questions, offer counter points, etc. College Republican Club was as big, if not bigger than the liberal leaning clubs. Student body was conservative, faculty liberal, administration conservative ... so an interesting dynamic.

Dargo was also a student there, 3 years behind me. Guess he and I were lucky to go to such an unusual school.

Franc, the answer to the thread title is a resounding, "NO!" :hammer:

Schools should be in the business of imparting facts to young minds, along with teaching them how to think and thus evaluate the facts they have been given. Religion can be discussed in publicly supported schools but only taught in private ones. The twin concepts of Duty and Honor should be inculcated so that the Republic can prosper.

This is the way things were through all the years of my public education; the doctrine of "Facts are Relative, Feelings are Paramount" was taking hold in the lower grades at that time but I stayed a couple of years ahead of that (miserably failed) experiment.

Anyway, in my never-humble-opinion ALL primary and secondary public education should be run as outlined above. The current system is an abomination that is failing our children and it must be scrapped! My hope is that Betsy Devos can make this happen over the next four or eight years. She'll have to hustle like a madwoman, but she may very well be up to the job.

The future of our children and country depend on it.
