Alabama’s BCS Trophy Gets Shattered

Talk about a bad omen. Alabama’s crystal BCS Championship Trophy from last fall’s title team was shattered during Saturday’s A-Day scrimmage, reported Tide Nation.
The trophy, valued at $30,000, was reportedly knocked off its podium by a current player’s father, who tripped on a rug that sits at the bottom of the display. It was located at the Mal Moore Athletic Facility halls, which holds Nick Saban’s office. Alex Scarborough of ESPN Radio tweeted out a picture of a tiny piece of crystal, saying “here’s what’s left.”
This isn’t the first recent mishap involving college football trophies. Florida’s 2008 BCS trophy was broken by then-recruit Orson Charles and Missouri’s mascot, Truman, broke the Independence Bowl trophy in December. The school will reportedly replace the broken trophy as soon as possible but we can hear the laughing all the way from Auburn after this mishap.
