Well, hey its not the end of the world, but it still sucks.

The story

Some 220 square miles of ice has collapsed in Antarctica and an ice shelf about the size of Connecticut is "hanging by a thread," the British Antarctic Survey said Tuesday, blaming global warming.
"We are in for a lot more events like this," said professor Ted Scambos, a glaciologist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Scambos alerted the British Antarctic Survey after he noticed part of the Wilkins ice shelf disintegrating on February 28, when he was looking at NASA satellite images.

Well, hey its not the end of the world, but it still sucks.

That is what ice does, it melts.... Come next "Spring" here, it will start refreezing there... Remember the Titanic, it hit a big Ice cube too....

You should watch the History Channel on all the changes that have taken place over the last bunch of Millions of years, great review if you missed it in school (if they still teach it)... It is nothing new, it had done it over and over again. We have been here only a few seconds in the the history of the Earth...what do we know...

If someone wanted to make lemonade out of Lemons, they would drag the ice to someplace and pump it into a lake somewhere as it melts...

I love all this "Global Warming" bs... Someone should put Al Gore in a box and send him to the moon. We are actually back into a cooling cycle as the temp peaked several years ago. It is in fact cooling much faster than it heated up. Do these people not know that the temp of the earth has been fluctuating for eons? Have not fear.. it WILL refreeze at some point. Maybe in Kansas... who knows.

Sci fi authors have been talking about harvesting icebergs as a way to supply fresh water to the LA basin since the 70's...
you'll also notice that with all the global warming we've been having we're not getting all the coastal flooding that was predicted to go with it 25 years ago...

One thing I forgot to mention, that was sea ice shelf that broke loose, it was not from a Glacier. It was frozen water that was big in area size, but only a couple of Dozen feet thick... It will freeze that thick in one winter. The Ice on the Arctic Ocean will freeze that much ice and then it will melt, break up and do it again. The difference was that ice was anchored to the shore line and it broke free. It is going into late fall there, the ice will start to freeze shortly and will be land bound in a few months again and then what... It will be a sheet of ice again...

The ice that they complain about in the Arctic Ocean is not frozen to anything and is blown around in the summer, the fact that one year it "Appears" to melt sixty miles offshore, is because the winds have blown the "Sheet" of ice to the other side of the Ocean, when the wind shifts, the ice blows back to "OUR" side of the Arctic Ocean.... It is all "Smoke and Mirrors" and doing what Nature does... what it wants....

I saw a report last night showing the ice shelf. Very interesting. At least they did acknowledge that no matter the cause (man or mother nature) NOTHING man can do can stop it. :applause: :applause: :tiphat:
I 'think' some are coming around to understanding it is a cyclical thing and nothing man can do can cause it or change it. Our tinnee winnee impact is negligible.
