I presume you were able to push yourself out with the FEL.

Or did the mud go into the exhaust, clog it, and kill the engine?

Tried the loader trick but did not work, ended up pulling it out with the Suburban which would not do it alone, also had to have the tractor in reverse and helping. That was after unhooking and manually moving the 1200# plus irrigation gun.
