Back again with another option, I was able to find a mercedes OM 617.952
5 cylinder turbo diesel, with a 4 speed auto. 125 hp. 170 ft/lbs , seems like it might be a better option than the 5.9 cummins, looking for input, anyone have any ideas or insight ?

Is the length of the motor/trans combo the same as what's in there ?

What are you going to use the machine for?

those motors wer great in auto applications the trans is basicly a shrunk down gm turbo with an extra gear. thefirst generation nato spec bv206'used the same combo the transmissions were bullet proof the engines had reliabilty problems related to overheating when they uped the engines toooo 6 cylinder engines it helped but the bv's had a poor cooling system and that was the downfall of the mb motors other equipment run them reliabey rememder lots of cooling and a na motor needs moor cooling than a turbo motor

I have a 3406e cat. It has sat for a year, so would need a re-build. 475 horse at 1600 rpm. Big mother though.
