Well, just had a guy wanting to come by to see it before the auction ends,

but before things went on - emailed me back - said the price is out of his comfort zone, as it just hit $7k, while he hoped to get it for around $5k

I think I'm living in the wrong times.

and I have always wondered, if the roles were reversed and this guy was selling the frandee, what would he be asking and what he would think of an offer of $5K

Wonder if he even took time to watch the build vids? 5K is clueless.

And the irony of a Sno Runner listed a few items later for $4,500.00

and with a little patience, the bidders almost always wait till the last hour to bid, and know well the bid will go up....

…… sounds like ''wishful'' thinking , especially on such a nicely done unit. hard to find a parts candidate for 5K,... ''bark'' comes to mind, or someone whom hasn't done a full frame resto,... I mean we all like a good deal, but geez,... don't be insulated, i'm pretty sure 99% of us really appreciate your snocat…. nice job...:thumbup:

That price brings to mind the old story about the guy who hoped when he died his widow sold his stuff for what it's worth, not what he said it cost...

I spoke with the owner of the Raidtrac. It is a runner but has not been used much in the last 10 years. He has some sort of equipment yard and has mechanics on site. They got the Raidtrac running after 3 or so years of no use. Had bad gas etc. Sounds like it runs ok now.
Very little info out there on these machines. Here is what I have found. Built in Canada, wheeled and tracked versions. 2 cylinder air cooled citroen engine. Millions of these engines produced, all were low powered and parts are now fairly difficult to source in the US. Some sort of cone clutches with a chain final drive to conventional rubber sprockets. Manual trans with brake steer. Belt track with aluminum grousers.
I think it is a interesting machine but the powertrain worries me. I was hoping it would cruise along like a snow trac but sounds like 12mph is probably top speed and not a lot of suspension. I will probably go take a look at it but not sure if I will jump on it. It might be cool to repower with a better engine but I don't really have the time for a big swap this season.

one is near my place in a wrecking yard. I have read that they throw tracks.

…….. 12mph seems like a pretty good clip, when you have all those track components ''whirling'' ,... shooting snow 20' in frt. of the hood is cool for a few seconds,... repower the ol' project …. foreign engine parts are a challenge …. looks like an interesting unit....
