So I bought this 76' Bombi back in March of last year and over the summer I have totally restored the whole thing below is an overview of what I have done;

- Totally patched and painted cab (Alot of fiberglass work and body filler) with industrial equipment paint

- Sanded and degreased tub, repainted with herculiner

- Installed all new LED lights (2100 Lumens per piece on the headlights, and 1850 lumens for the roof top lights)

- Whelen LED Class 1 Strobe light with Brush Guard

- Repainted Muffler and added a Tractor Trailer style flapper

- Rebuilt Track Tensioners

- Added new High Output heater and hoses for max warmth when grooming!

- Jegs silver gauges with white background with LED bulbs (Volts, Oil Pressure, Tach, Water Temp, and Fuel (Which for some reason wont work right, I am going to try another ohm range gauge any other ideas on why it wont work or does anyone know what ohm range it is supposed to use?)

-All new wiring, switches, & ignition thru out (This was quite a job!)

- New glass front and rear (I had a "glass company" do it and I am not impressed, will have to have redone.

- Oil Change with Mobil 1 Extended performance 10w-30 (Is this the right weight oil?)

- Changed Differential Oil, Pennwood Tractor Hydraulic Fluid for wet brakes

- Converted to winter air intake

- Had seats reupholstered (They look Awesome!)

- Used Meguiars Rubber cleaner and conditioner on the tracks to hopefully get some more life out of them.

- Replaced brakes (not the bands but the pads for the pedal)

- I reinforced the engine compartment with some steel (welded it and fiberglassed it in for support)

- I had to replace the engine vents, I ended up using some HVAC return vents, they are not really what I wanted (very flimsy) but they work.

- Flushed coolant and replaced

- New 140 Amp One wire alternator

- Dynamat Extreme throughout entire cab

- Carpet Headliner and walls (Obviously not on floors!)

- Rebuilt Carb

- New Spark Plugs

- Obviously a new wiper blade (I would like to put a new arm on it any ideas?)

- I need to find a new fuel cap.

- I have ordered new sliding side windows from "Motion Windows" they should be in at the end of this month (I am trying to get the order rushed because snow is falling as I type this!)

More photos to come as dropbox catches up with my phone!

We got three inches of snow last night so I took it out this morning for a trial run. It seems to me that the pennwood hydraulic tractor fluid I put in the differential is not the right stuff, the diff is making alot more noise than it used to and when I checked the fluid after the run it seemed way to thin for my liking (there os no weight listed on the jug which makes me think it is a multi viscosity) I think I am going to have to drain it and put some real Cat TO-4 30 Weight fluid in to solve the problem.

Also had a little fire issue, the wire that goes to the coil somehow got pushed against the exhaust manifold which in turn burned off the wire casing and shorted itself out. This was quickley fixed with a few handfulls of the white stuff to put out the fire and a new wire routed away from the exhaust.

Other than not having the side windows in yet (so it was quite chilly) and the above issues she went perfectly. A little issue idleing at first but went away after she warmed up.

Good info on the oil i have just bought new oil for my bombi after i change brakebands, bearings and driveshaft i will have a look at the oil after the first hour drive.
A question did you replace the foot brakepads? What ive heard and read in the manual these brakes are only a emergency brake and are not supposed to be used? The brakepads on my Bombi looks like new were yours worn out?
Do you know why they recomend not to use as a brake?

I didnt replace the pads, however i did take them out, clean them (they were not worn at all, just very diry) and re adjust. I dont really know why they say to only use in emergencys but I will be pulling a large steel roller to pack the snow on our trails and if I needed to stop on a hill to check or fix something having that emergency brake should hold the machine. Regarding the oil, I should have followed boggies advice from the begining on the to-4 oil, but napa was out and said that the pennwood tractor hydraulic would work fine. Obviously not!

Ok about the oil, here in sweden we dont have the same brand of oil as in Us so i find it quite hard to get info of what to use,i ended up buying Statoil 10w-40 semisyntetic oil for wet brakes. As a transmisson oil it has SAE 80w quality <-- what ever that means?

TO4 oil is sold by Oreillys auto parts for future reference in 30 and 50 weight. 5 gal bucket. You must order it. I have 50 weight in my Bombi. It really corrected the steering. ATF was in the diff previously. I’ve plowed my neighborhood all winter, my machine doesn’t want to turn left when cold first thing but steers normally after about 1/4 mile.DB15C380-1726-451E-8C08-F1FC6EDBE663.jpeg
