Fast food workers strike to double current wages - NY Daily News

They are also demanding a union.

So.. let me get this straight. You took a minimum wage, part time job. You do not want to further your education, or look for more profitable work. Now, you are demanding $15 per hour, and a union? There is so much I want to say about this, but since it is a family friendly forum I'll refrain from a serious rant.

but ... but ... but

McDonalds already has robotic drink dispensers to cut down on labor costs because fast food labors are known far and wide for being undependable.

and

If the wages double then what will happen to the food prices, and how many people are willing to pay $1.50, or $2.00 for a value menu $1 Mc Chicken sandwich? Or willing to pay about $5 for a Big Mac, a Whopper, etc??? Anyone want to guess how fast and how far sales will plummet?

These people want to take an entry level job that basically is there to train people to learn good work habits and they want that to pay skilled labor wages?

They get very little of my business now (maybe 3-4 times per year) but that will drop to zero when my Wendy's #2 combo goes over $10.

These people just don't know any better. What's troubling are the so-called intelligent talking-head progressives within the MSM that think this is a good idea. THESE are the dangerous people -- the ones promoting economic fairness as part of their social fairness agenda. They demand upward mobility without the effort.

Sorry. Keep it up and good entry-level work opportunities will be replaced with the robot that flips the burger and adds lettuce, pickles, onions and a dollop of the secret special sauce. The fast food joints will become one big-ass vending machine and will STILL be wildly successful ... without a burger-flippers union or the hassles of Mellisa Harris-Perry.

This will surely open up the doors for the independent vendors.

I heard several pundits compalin that MacDonald's workers making $7.25 anhour cannot afford to take their families to eat there.

Of course the math is silly.
First off, assuming this is truee(and it ain't), if wages double, prices will surely almost double, and those same workers will stil be unable to bring their families to MacDonald's to eat.
Secondly, where oh where does anybody get $7.25 an hour working at MacDonalds? The stores here in rural St Charles Mo advertise $9.00 an hour to start. Otherwise no one would apply.

Thirdly, workers doing part time at fast food, do so because it is an entry level position which requires virtualy no skill sets upon the employer candidate. What little you need to learn, they will teach you the first day.

Message to no account drop outs that want nice things in life,,,,,,
No offense meant, but if you have no skill sets, you have no value in the work place until someone gives you those tools. Work a low wage job until you are worth something to somebody who will pay you more. Then move on so some other school drop out, or college student, can earn some bucks and skills and then move on.

Or get an education so you bring something of value tothe table. Simple skillslike a good work ethic, some math and reading skill, and the ability to speak the languege(english) are not values worth much more than minimum wage,,,,,if that. If you want to earn a living wage, aquire the skills, get a franchise and put in the 60 hour weeks it takes to make one a success!

Ben Stein once said it best,,,most employers want a few extra's but what they look for mostly, 90% of the minimum requirement, is someone who will show up everyday with a pulse.:whistling:
