Feds and County taking land because of snowcat

The property owner could no longer afford to fight and took the counties offer of 50k for the property (original offer was 30 then bumped to 50) plus 80k to cover his legal costs. Assuming the county spent a similar amount (likely much more) on legal expenses that's over 200 thousand dollars of taxpayer money to take this property. At the same time the county is supportive of a plan to build an x/c skier hut in a more remote location on Forest Service land not far from there which could sleep 36 people per night. White River National Forest / Weber Hut. This sounds crazy until you factor in the private property they took is within one of the proposed Hidden Gems wilderness areas and one of the county commissioners used to be Sierra Club local leader. Make sense now?
