Default Small bedroom project.

So the missus has been after me to build a new bed frame for our bed. We had a metal frame without a center support bar for the box spring on wheels. Our bedroom floor is a good quality laminate and every time we even thought about getting close to the bed the thing would walk across the floor.

Seeing as I'm off work this week to watch the kids for March break I figured I'd get to work building a new frame for the bed. I started out with 4 2x6 and three 1x6 pieces, my trusty chop saw, and some screws. Here's what I came up with. I nailed in some legs with felt pads to keep it off the floor.

First picture. Assembled in the garage.
Second picture. Fully assembled in the bedroom waiting for the box spring.
Picture three. I installed 1 x 2 side rails as well to keep the box spring in place.
Picture four. I designed it so the main frame sits in from the edge. The queen size bed is 5ft wide and 78" long. Main frame is four feet wide and 72" long to save my toes from ramming into it. Picture 5 shows the bedskirt sitting at the right height.

The bed no longer squeaks and doesn't move every time you touch it.
