I've seen it probably a dozen times, and still don't think it's gone around enough! Or more likely people are so oblivious to their own actions anymore: they read it, chuckle about the old days and nutty people these days, and then quickly forget while they proceed to drown their own video-game-addicted children with Rittalin while complaining about the incompetant school system.

I believe this is more of a case of "apples and oranges."

In the mid-1960s most of my friends and myself carried switchblades. No one died. And frankly, we did it not for the crimes of aggression or theft, but as defensive tools.

Would you expect the teenagers of today to think in that fashion?

When I was in grade school I took a 22 pistol with ammo in for show and tell. I had permission of course from the teacher and it was my responsibility to keep it all day. Imagine what would happen now I a student even suggested it.

Yesteryear - I could look you in the eye and call somebody an f-in moron - I'd get knocked on me arse.

Today, I can say whatever I want to whomever I want, and the worse that happens is a ban. Life is grand.

Boy, you wish...

Today, the idiot you challenged might be some whacko "savant" who stays up for six weeks and eats only Cheetohs and drinks Red Bull.

What he lacks in the social graces he makes up for in computer savvy and hacking. He'll fixate all night on your innocent comment, hunt down your ISP and steal his mom's credit card for a Greyhound bus ticket to your neighborhood.

He'll be found wondering around the town square mumbling to himself how his "new daddy" doesn't understand him.

Later that week John Walsh on "America's Most Wanted" will interview his former neighbor, a toothless townie in no T-shirt and a 72" plasma TV.

And right on que, the townie will shake his head, and 'gum' into the camera, "He was such a quiet lad..."

But, hey, what do I know? It's probably okay.:yum:
