So many who have seen this flick rave about how good it is in that it gives a real view of the life of our best ever sniper. Kudos to Clint Eastwood. :tiphat:

There are a few, very predictable, hollywood types who have trashed the film. Michael Moore and Seth Rogen being the most notable to date. Seth Rogen compared the film to a Nazi propaganda film playing in the third act of Inglorious Bastards. Mr. Pompous Ass himself, Michael Moore, tweeted "Snipers aren't Heros, Snipers are Cowards". Later Moore tried to explain his comment saying his uncle would said snimpers were cowards because he was shot in the back by one during WWII.

All of Fox News and a few celebs have come to the defense of the film. Blake Sheldon, Craig Morgan and Kid Rock all jumped on Moore and Rogen for their bad mouthing of the film. Kid Rock said: Fuck You Michael Moore, you're a piece of shit, and your uncle would be ashamed of you. Seth Rogen your uncle probably molested you. I hope you both catch a fist in the face soon."
 I'll drink to that.

Saw it the other night. Eastwood got the shaft as Best Director, and if the flic doesn't take Best Movie Oscar, something even more diabolical is going on.

Of course last year that crappy movie 12 Years a Slave won, so my faith in the Oscars is zip.

I look forward to seeing it. It's funny to hear people like Moore open their mouth and then start p!ss!n' backward. It's almost like their mouth is moving but the reasoning part of the brain is asleep.

I read the book and I'm sure won't see the movie (until it's on video anyway) but piss on anything Michael Moore says!

This just in. Now Michael Moore denies he was talking about the movie American Sniper with those tweets. He was just talking about snipers and the timing was off with this movie being released. At least that is the story on snopes. What a total sleazeball. Have the balls to stand behind what you say or keep your trap shut.

Moore is such a jerk. If he is against snipers shouldn't he be against all of them? German , American, whatever? As for:
invaders r worst
hey the USA did invade Germany. He makes it sound like we were the bad guys with his statements.
By the way Is there anyway to even find out if he really had an uncle killed by a sniper in WW 2?

Link for all this at the bottom.

I adore Clint Eastwood… always have, always will. When he ‘friended’ me on Facebook a couple of years ago, it was a highlight. Michael Moore got the response he so richly deserved from Clint. I heard a lot of media pundits out there that countered with, well… modern day snipers are much different than in WWII. Maybe, but they are all heroes in my book. There was not a coward among them. The cowards are those effete, pampered, rich, spoiled elitists such as Moore who never protected anyone but himself and possibly his fridge. The cowards are those terrorists that Kyle was tasked with taking down. Chris Kyle was a good, brave man – a legend – taken from us far too early in this crazy world. Of course, those Hollywood Leftists out there hating on Kyle and Eastwood don’t know what the meaning of the word ‘honor’ means. They’re Marxists – it’s their nature.

From Qpolitical:

Here’s what happens when you mess with Clint Eastwood. His movie recently shot up to over $100 million on the opening, and is being received on a pretty large scale, both commercially and critically.

With all the success it has gotten over the past weekend, some nay-sayers will always have something to say about something so positive. Here’s what he tweeted out:

So after seeing his stance on Snipers, it’s safe to assume that Moore isn’t exactly Clint Eastwood’s best friend. What’s amazing is seeing what Clint had to say when asked about Moore:

“Michael Moore and I actually have a lot in common, we both appreciate living in a country where there’s free expression… But Michael, if you ever show up at my front door with a camera – I’ll kill you”

And all you liberals that think this is a joke or Clint would never do such a thing… or he was only doing this for publicity…

“I meant it…”

That’s a direct quote from Clint Eastwood.

Any questions?

Didn’t think so. This should teach you a lesson, liberals. Hate on conservatives all you want. We will allow you to be uninformed, but disrespect our troops? HELL NO. We won’t let that fly. Those “cowards” are out there fighting for your freedom to say stupid stuff like that DAILY. Watch your back, because Clint Eastwood might be right there along side the millions of conservatives that support our troops!

Liberals have a right to say what they want. The Constitution guarantees that right. But don’t bring your cowardice to our doorsteps and show some respect for those who fight and die for you so you can have your parties and disparage the rest of America. Kyle saved your sorry ass and countless others while you were swigging Shipwrecked 1907 Heidsieck and eating caviar. I imagine Moore made Clint Eastwood’s day. Too big for an empty chair, but more than big enough to shoot his mouth off. Moore might take care who he aims at. Eastwood is a great shot.

This is very moving. Got it via chain email. Cannot validate but to good not to post.

If you plan on seeing "American Sniper" be sure to read this:
.
Make sure you take the time to read what is written here. This will make the movie experience far more meaningful and make you question our leaders even more.

This is a long read. It’s worth your time. Our government may be a mess but we Americans still have HONOR!

This is why America will remain strong. We take care of our own as well as others who may not deserve taking care of. I just wanted to share that out of a horrible tragedy we were blessed by so many people at Chris Kyle’s funeral.

Chris became the armed services number #1 sniper of all time. Not something he was happy about, other than the fact that in so doing, he saved a lot of American lives.

Three years ago, his wife Taya asked him to leave the SEAL teams as he had a huge bounty on his head by Al Qaeda. He did and wrote the book "The American Sniper." 100% of the proceeds from the book went to two of the SEAL families who had lost their sons in Iraq .

That was the kind of guy Chris was. He formed a company in Dallas to train military, police and I think firemen as far as protecting themselves in difficult situations. He also formed a foundation to work with military people suffering from PTSD. Chris was a giver not a taker.

He, along with a friend and neighbor, Chad Littlefield, were murdered trying to help a young man that had served six months in Iraq and claimed to have PTSD.

Now I need to tell you about all of the blessings.

Southwest Airlines flew in any SEAL and their family from any airport they flew into...free of charge. The employees donated buddy passes and one lady worked for four days without much of a break to see that it happened. Volunteers were at both airports in Dallas to drive them to the hotel. The Marriott Hotel reduced their rates to $45 a night and cleared the hotel for only SEALs and family.

The Midlothian, TX Police Department paid the $45 a night for each room. I would guess there were about 200 people staying at the hotel, 100 of them were SEALs. Two large buses were chartered (an unknown donor paid the bill) to transport people to the different events and they also had a few rental cars (donated). The police and secret service were on duty 24 hours during the stay at our hotel.

At the Kyle house, the Texas DPS parked a large motor home in front to block the view from reporters. It remained there the entire five days for the SEALs to congregate in and all to use the restroom so as not to have to go in the house. Taya, their two small children and both sets of parents were staying in the home.

Only a hand full of SEALs went into the home as they had different duties and meetings were held sometimes on a hourly basis. It was a huge coordination of many different events and security. Derek was assigned to be a Pall Bearer, to escort Chris' body when it was transferred from the Midlothian Funeral Home to the Arlington Funeral Home, and to be with Taya. A tough job.

Taya seldom came out of her bedroom. The house was full with people from the church and other family members that would come each day to help. I spent one morning in a bedroom with Chris’ mom and the next morning with Chad Littlefield's parents (the other man murdered with Chris). A tough job.

George W Bush and his wife Laura met and talked to everyone on the Seal Team one on one. They went behind closed doors with Taya for quite a while. They had prayer with us all. You can tell when people were sincere and caring.

Nolan Ryan sent his cooking team, a huge grill and lots of steaks, chicken and hamburgers. They set up in the front yard and fed people all day long including the 200 SEALs and their families. The next day a local BBQ restaurant set up a buffet in front of the house and fed all once again. Food was plentiful and all were taken care of. The family's church kept those inside the house well fed.

Jerry Jones, the man everyone loves to hate, was a rock star. He made sure that we all were taken care of. His wife and he were just making sure everyone was taken care of….Class... He donated the use of Cowboy Stadium for the services as it was determined that so many wanted to attend.

The charter buses transported us to the stadium on Monday at 10:30 am. Every car, bus, motorcycle was searched with bomb dogs and police. I am not sure if kooks were making threats trying to make a name for themselves or if so many SEALs in one place was a security risk, I don't know. We willingly obliged. No purses went into the stadium!

We were taken to The Legends room high up and a large buffet was available. That was for about 300 people. We were growing.

A Medal of Honor recipient was there, lots of secret service and police and Sarah Palin and her husband. She looked nice, this was a very formal military service.

The service started at 1:00 pm and when we were escorted onto the field I was shocked. We heard that about 10,000 people had come to attend also. They were seated in the stadium seats behind us. It was a beautiful and emotional service.

The Bagpipe and drum corps were wonderful and the Texas A&M men's choir stood through the entire service and sang right at the end. We were all in tears.

The next day was the 200-mile procession from Midlothian, TX to Austin for burial. It was a cold, drizzly, windy day, but the people were out. We had dozens of police motorcycles riders, freedom riders, five chartered buses and lots of cars. You had to have a pass to be in the procession and still it was huge. Two helicopters circled the procession with snipers sitting out the side door for protection. It was the longest funeral procession ever in the state of Texas. People were everywhere. The entire route was shut down ahead of us, the people were lined up on the side of the road the entire way. Firemen were down on one knee, police officers were holding their hats over their hearts, children waving flags, veterans saluting as we went by. Every bridge had fire trucks with large flags displayed from their tall ladders, people all along the entire 200 miles were standing in the cold weather. It was so heartwarming. Taya rode in the hearse with Chris' body so Derek rode the route with us. I was so grateful to have that time with him.

The service was at Texas National Cemetery. Very few are buried there and you have to apply to get in. It is like people from the Civil War, Medal of Honor winners, a few from the Alamo and all the historical people of Texas. It was a nice service and the Freedom Riders surrounded the outside of the entire cemetery to keep the crazy church people from Kansas that protest at military funerals away from us.

Each SEAL put his Trident (metal SEAL badge) on the top of Chris' casket, one at a time. A lot hit it in with one blow. Derek was the only one to take four taps to put his in and it was almost like he was caressing it as he did it. Another tearful moment.

After the service Governor Rick Perry and his wife, Anita, invited us to the governor's mansion. She stood at the door, greeted each of us individually, and gave each of the SEALs a coin of Texas. She was a sincere, compassionate, and gracious hostess.

We were able to tour the ground floor and then went into the garden for beverages and BBQ. So many of the Seal team guys said that after they get out they are moving to Texas. They remarked that they had never felt so much love and hospitality. The charter buses then took the guys to the airport to catch their returning flights. Derek just now called and after a 20 hours flight he is back in his spot, in a dangerous land on the other side of the world, protecting America.

We just wanted to share with you, the events of a quite emotional, but blessed week.

To this day, no one in the White House has ever acknowledged Chris Kyle! However, the President can call some sport person and congratulate him on announcing to the world that he is gay?? What is happening to our society, our honor and our pride??

Please, keep this moving!

Dean Cain, one time Superman, comes to Chris's defense. Dean trained for six weeks with Chris after Chris was out of the service. It was a realiy show but over the six week Dean came to truly care for and admire Chris.

It's probably no surprise to anyone, but the film ends with a "flyover" of the funeral procession. An incredibly moving piece of videography, bringing theatergoers to their feet in respect. Awesome.

Well done, Clint. Too bad the lefty Hollywood types are stiffing you for Best Director. Of course giving you the Oscar would upset Al Sharpton, and he would have to shake someone down for more money to support his sleazy National Action Network ... or pay his taxes.

As a sniper Chris Kyle killed one intended target at a time. It seems unlickly to me that a sniper of Chris Kyle's skill would ever inflect any collateral damage or deaths.

Obummers drones kill the target and anyone near by. So these hollyweed morons choose the sniper to rag about......makes perfect sense to me.

A Reply to Michael Moore and the Left on Military Snipers--

Michael Moore, supported by a cadre of fellow liberals, weighed in on the movie "American Sniper" and took the liberty--and I mean took the liberty literally--to criticize military snipers as "cowards."

Let me introduce myself. My name is Sean Johnson. I currently work for Congressman Paul Gosar as his Wounded Warrior Military and Veteran Liaison. I am a Marine and a veteran of the war in Afghanistan. I am medically retired due to injuries I sustained during my service in Afghanistan.

I personally know what our snipers do. I have worked with these guys. Calling them cowards wouldn't faze them one bit but it would amuse them, coming from a soft, Hollywood leftist like Michael Moore. If anyone knows cowards it might be him.

Snipers play a key role in military operations. They often go out in advance to secure an area where operations are planned. They go behind enemy lines alone with possibly only a spotter. It is incredibly dangerous. They most often hike into remote areas, up mountains, down valleys, through extreme heat or extreme cold. These men are total bad asses.

During operations they protect our troops who are conducting sweeps and other activities. They keep an eye out for enemies, suicide bombers, etc. They have saved the lives of countless soldiers. One good sniper taking out a suicide bomber can save dozens of troops.

They are used for taking out high value targets. Enemy combat leaders can be effectively targeted thus degrading the enemies' operational readiness and leadership command.

Snipers can buy time for troops withdrawing from a combat zone. It's hard for the enemy to advance when anyone who stands up to attack our soldiers gets a bullet to the head.

Far from being cowards, these are some of our best men. They operate in the worst circumstances often alone in the elements. And they don't complain. They do it because it's right, it's their job and they believe in protecting their fellow soldiers and protecting our way of life granted to us by the Constitution.

I thank God for these brave men. They save lives every day. I hope you join me and Congressman Gosar in praying for the health and safety of all of our snipers, and maybe pray for Michael Moore to one day understand that his liberty to attack snipers like Chris Kyle is only possible because of these brave patriots.

And yet one more reply:

ryan Sikes , a Green Beret Sniper and has voiced his opinion in a very public letter to Michael Moore that has now gone viral, per Bro Bible. The response Sikes has received from the general public regarding his letter lets us all know that Michael Moore’s opinions are not worth much.

Sikes’ reply to Moore:

“Mr. Moore —

Good afternoon there sweetheart, I hope this finds you alive and well. You can thank our men and women of the armed forces for that, by the way, and that also includes us cowardly snipers. It seems you’ve found time between licking the jelly off your fingers and releasing your grasp of a bear claw to tweet some junk about snipers being cowards.

My buddies and I got a good laugh over the tweet, so I thank you. For a guy worth $50 million dollars, you sure have quite a bit to bitch and cry about. I guess like a moth to flame, you too gravitate towards things that are popular and in the moment — in this case it’s snipers. Too bad for you that your attempt at being relevant via your 70+ year old family experience has failed. It has only made you look dumber than a bag of hammers. Next time you should try something more original than going after snipers for one reason or another…that was so last month.

It’s typical of “men” like you to criticize the intestinal fortitude, focus, discipline and patriotism of a sniper. It must stem from an inferiority complex or something. But hey, it’s okay cupcake. We snipers are thick skinned and the efforts of world class turds such as yourself to portray us in a negative light only makes us laugh. If you and I were in the same room, I’d throw you a smile and gently pat you on the head knowing you’re nothing more than a mouth breathing, Crisco sweating waste of space not even worthy of being in the presence of a sniper. It’s almost funny how people like you preach things like ‘acceptance’ and ‘not passing judgement’ or ‘labeling people’, but then are the first to do so when a person is in some way dissimilar from you.

So tenderfoot, I leave you with this final thought: what if you found yourself in some sort of hostage situation where you were held at knife-point by some crazed person and they were dead set on making an example of you by bleeding you out on Hollywood Blvd in front of the world, and the only way out was with the precision aimed fire of a sniper? Would you want that coward to take the shot? Because knowing how you feel about snipers such as myself and your hatred of firearms, I’d probably drop the mag, roll the bolt and go get a Jack & Coke before helping you out.

Very Respectfully,
Sikes”
