Spent a good part of last night in the local hospital emergency room.
Thank goodness they have "good" drugs there for pain!
I've had several kidney stones in the past, had them every summer for 4 years in a row. The 4th year was the worst, the stones were too large to pass so I had lithotripsy (sp?) to break them up. . . felt like someone beat on my back with a baseball bat, but eliminated the stones.
Last night was different. I ate some cucumber salad and immediately got an upset stomach. Figured the food was bad? Seemed logical. Over the course of the evening the upset stomach turned to back pain, nausea, etc.
Into the Emergency Room after a 20 minute bumpy ride down the rural roads and a few hours later I was released. I still have the stone, is small enough that I have an 80% probability of passing it. The thing that surprised me was that I had another stone. It has been several years since my last stone. And I figured I was 'done' with them.
Anyone else get these things? Did you modify your diet to minimize them?
