We've been suffering from Blue/Green Algae on Lake Champlain this summer and complaining about it. This is nothing compared to that.

California is a lost cause. The state has progressed past the tipping point of no return. A text book example of a failed Socialist state right here in the good old USA.

I have NO mercy for them. I have no plans of helping them. One gets the government they deserve and they are a text book example of Ben Franklin's phrase as well.

But what about us poor bastards that where here before the commie takeover and have too much invested to just pick up and leave. I live in a rural area thank god. We have no voice here. The best we can hope for is that the local folks as liberal as they are get to the point that they can't live with the policies they are voting for.

" ... too much invested to just pick up and leave."

Maybe so, maybe not. Recall the old Chinese proverb:

"Over the course of a long life, a wise man will be prepared to abandon his luggage many times."

The older a person gets, the harder this is to do. Dragonfly Lady and I have been watching the deterioration of our country and wondering if we should jump, or hunker in place and take a Vikings Honor Guard with us. What is certain is that we need to make that decision soon, as the last possible date to jump is the first week of January, 2025.

Those of us who live in "fly over country" feel your pain.

Im 61 own land and a business here. Where I live is a rural area we don't have sanctuary cities out here, We are just taxed to death for the lib policies in the cities. My son will take over the business in 4-1/2 more years and I will be on the Mountain a lot more. Like I said in the original post. Out here we hope the libs that are living in the cities voting for the libs at some point can't any longer vote for those policies. Every year they get a little crazier until there are tent cities, trash, shit, drugs and illegals. At some point something is going to give and they will vote it out. As far as leaving the country I don't think that would be an option for me.

If you are hanging on hoping for change, just remember...; That promise was made 13 years ago. Things are better now?????

Frankly if this was 1776 you would, by now, be smelling spent gunpowder.

Ca. is a microcosm of the USA as a whole
1- the rural areas are controlled by the cities
2-the liberals control the cities
3- middle America is Conservative
the polarity is so bad that groups are actively lobbying to split the state into northern and southern another group wants to add a state and name it Jefferson bottom line is middle America is being controlled and taxed by the cities to further there insane agendas. Seems like Ca. is the test site for what is coming at the rest of you in short order, All of the major cities on the west coast are California now SanDiego to Seattle all the same, gun laws, sanctuary cities welfare, drugs, tent cities everything

Understood. That's what worries us in the Midwest. Whether it is fashion, music, architecture or culture, what happens in California leads the nation in what happens.

We don't want high regulation socialism here. We do like plastic straws and our guns, along with streets and beaches clean of needles and poop.

And yet,,,;
We have zero influence on events in California. For the good of the nation, you guys need to take hold of the situation there.

The only way that can happen is if the federal government cracks down on the leadership. I DO NOT have the same rights as a citizen in the mid west. I own property in Michigan and a few years ago went to the gun store there. After my I.D. was produced the sale was declined because I have a CA. I.D. So am I a citizen of the U.S. or a citizen of Ca. ?? They can now control you in a different state. As for the mid west turning into Ca. I don't know how to stop it. I think what happens is the Dim's move because of the policies and then turn around and vote the same way the did where they were?? The mid west needs to restrict immigration from both the west and east coasts.

I live in a rural area to, but Conservatives control the politics here thankfully. That is at least Trump carried here by 10 points. Republicans own the legislature as well as the Governor's chair, occupied by a Woman.

Cities are indeed the problem. Most people that live in them have now idea of how to live with out city services, much less how they would survive if the supply chains for food were disrupted. Be glad we live away from the hoards of people stuffed in the Cities.

I used to feel the same way about leaving Ca,......... that it was just "too hard".

Finally, in 1995, I just decided one day to leave.

Sold everything except one car and drove it East........... BEST move I ever made!!!!!

You can't run from it. I live on an acreage in a rural area I'm sure just like yours, no sanctuary, no druggies and no tents. Where we are screwed over is regulation and taxes. The problem is from the east to the west all of the major cities are California. So in short order if not already you will be getting the same treatment where ever you are.

I saw this crap when I lived in Boulder Co. many years ago.

The real decline began when the Kalifornians moved in with their no smoking bullshit.
Boulder was a mecca for live entertainment.
You could catch any number of bands at a wide assortment of venues on any given night.

Everybody quit going out when they could no longer smoke in the bars.
I don't know how it is today, but the live music scene just dried up and blew away.

That was only the beginning......
