I must say, the accomodations below look like quite a few steps up from when I served last century. The mattress looks plush and more storage than they had in my day. Back then it was a 3" piece of foam for a mattress.

Dad and my first husband had photos of their sleeping quarters, on the Caloosahatchee and the Nimitz.
John's was cramped and small -3 high amid the hatches.
At least they had little privacy curtains.

Daddy's was better. Much! Lol

long nights sleeping under the mattress to keep from rolling. oh what fun.
