I've found out through this vale of tears that the only thing that really counts iswhat you leave behind. Not the money or the land, not the portfolio or the piles of gold, but the memories you leave with those who cared about you.
I don't mind the world crapping on me, that's to be expected, but does it have to be a truckload at a time.
I miss my daughter.

Many people fear death. But, to me, death is just a gateway to another adventure. The manner of my death concerns me, but not the dieing. Of course, that doesn't mean I won't be drug off kicking and screaming, or fighting to hang on. there are just too many things I want to do and see before I take that long goodbye.
I am still thinking over the idea of building a boat, but am just a little bit hesitant.
Will somebody please get off their rear ends and build a space hotel? Even if I never get to go there, I really want to see one built before I go.
My grandkids are great. they are giving my kids all the heart aches my kids gave me.
I am a product of my times. I know this. but it has occurred to me more often lately, that what this country needs is about ten years of a really nasty dictatorship to make the drones appreciate what liberty really is.
Lay all the money you have ever earned out. Weigh it. then take all the love you have ever been given and lay it out. Weigh it if you can. Every child must be weighed, every person you ever cared for. Bet it outweighs the money. If not, I'm truly sorry for you.
Around here, we call cosmetics 'war paint'. a better name would be hunting paint.
Remember, if you can see the enemy, he can see you too.
Never rely on hiding to save you. A good thick wall does a lot better.
If possible, back away from a fight. If cornered, or protecting others, then fight like you've never fought before.

Another year further down the trail.
Knowledge comes with age, unfortunately wisdom sometimes doesn't.
"Kill them all, let God sort them out" is a younger persons philosophy. "Piss on them, I ain't got time left to worry about it" is an older persons philosophy. I must still be young.
Why do people insist on cakes and parties for birthdays? It's just another day. A happy birthday, now lets get to work is much more my speed.
I enjoy watching people. They are such funny creatures, especially in packs.

I found something I was good at, but now they tell me I'm too old and slow. I can still pull a trigger though.
The closest you will ever come to another human being is the moment when you take their life. It produces an intimacy closer than sex,and that person becomes forever a part of you. I think this is why those who are unprepared for this suffer PTSD. Of course, those who aren't bothered at all are called psychopaths.
Successful snipers and wetworkers are truly strange individuals. The intimacy of close kills don't affect them as badly as it does most, but they are not psychos. they go on to be relatively peaceful, usually productive members of their society.
Never make the mistake of pissing of an old sniper or wetwork specialist. they may have one kill left in them.
On the contraceptives issue. I have zero problem with a woman taking contraception. I have a big problem being required to pay for them to go out and make whoopie without fear of their own actions. They want the stuff, let them buy it.
Abortion: I have helped women on both sides of this issue. I still feel that it is wrong unless their are extreme extenuating circumstances. Get this. Abortion is infanticide. another form of killing. I don't object to the killing so much, but why should the innocent be the one to pay the price.
Why in the blazes is alcohol legal, but marijuana is outlawed? Makes no sense to me.
Been around alcoholics and occasional drinkers, been around stoners and occasional puffers. The alkies and the stoners are pretty much the same breed. the puffers are easier to get along with than the drunks.
Maybe we should legalize drugs. Make them really cheap. Let those so inclined OD and get out of the rest of society's way.

got called away the other night to help get a woman and her kids away from an abusive boyfriend. this had been going on a while, yet she did nothing until he finally broke her arm and punched her 5 yr old son in the face.
wound up nursemaiding her and her children at nights until the guy was caught and locked up.

I understand the reason immigrants, both legal and illegal are reluctant to call the law. I realize there are cultural differences that tolerate behavior those of us born here find intolerable. Beating on a woman or kids though should cross the line in any decent culture.

My real frustration I guess is for the kids. Not super fond of little ones, but I've spent the last several nights with two little girls too terrified to sleep alone curled in my lap. And a 5 year old boy with a busted face doing his best to 'man up'. Made me mad enough to want the SOB to show up. Guess it's lucky for me he didn't. Really a little old to be looking for a boyfriend.
Some types of people I can't stand. those that hurt kids, those who abuse women, those who hurt or abuse the old. Those who steal from laziness or greed.
Folks that stick their nose in my business I can stand. As long as they are reasonably polite about it.
It really makes you want to cry to see kids hurting like these little ones were.

We called the DSS, the mother and the police. I asked the police if they could possibly let the SOB out for a stroll down the street. Bastard pled guilty to assault and assault on a minor this AM. Don't know if they will up charges given the new information or not.
But, since I made a phone call or two, the inmates in the SC system now knows he likes to mess with little girls. Should make his time interesting.
After he serves his time he will be under a deportation order but we all know how much those are worth.
I haven't really wanted to go to the trouble and aggravation of terminating anybody for several years, but after this AM I would gladly cap this piece of crap and would do my time gladly.

Government spokespersons, and government employees who use their official positions to either support, or oppose, those who exercise their first amendment rights on these matters should get a long time in a jail cell to think about the meaning of the first amendment.
I am not prejudiced against homosexuals. I believe that they should keep their private business private, as I do. I have no problem with homosexuals serving in the military, or in elected office. I have no problem with homosexuals being able to make decisions for the ones they love, just like others do.

As some of those here know, 9/11 is a particularly hard time for me. I have spent several years thinking on these matters and feel now that I should put some of them down.
I despise the jihadists with every fiber of my being, not for my personal loss, but for their ideology and the danger they represent to my nation and those still here that I care about. Similar barbarians destroyed ancient Greece, doomed the Roman empire and rampaged thru Europe for centuries. If we as a people do not grow a set of cojones they will be our doom.
The weird part is, is that I understand them fairly well. They are willing to die for what they believe in. Further, they are willing to kill others for what they believe in.
While I have no true objection to either of the above, I do hold that 'innocents' should be kept out of the line of fire. The Jihadists deliberately place civilians there.
I do not, as some others do consider them cowards. I do consider them evil, while understanding that bravery is not a monopoly of those fighting for freedom and justice.
The Jihadists must be destroyed root and branch or the concepts of civilization that we understand and accept will be. There is no other option, it is a binary solution set.
All the hypocrisy of 'cultural understanding, 'acceptance of their culture', 'violence never solves anything', are bunch of horse crap.
We have a simple choice, either we wipe out the Jihadists and the nations that support and breed this particular virulence or we ourselves will be destroyed. Apathy is our greatest enemy here, just as it was for Rome.
We can destroy them or our nation and civilization will face a reign of terror to make Genghis Khan look like a Sunday afternoon tea.
We may not see the end in our lifetimes, but it is coming and the longer we wait to act in a decisive and committed manner, the harder it will be to eradicate this pestilence.
For those who fell in Lebanon, on the Cole, on 9/11, in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the hundred other small warlets out there, you will be remembered.
Whether it is as the Spartans at Thermopylae, buying time for others to come, or like the defenders of Masada, dieing only for the cause that you believe you are right, is yet to be seen.
If we must embrace hegemony to achieve this, then we must do so. Hopefully, it can be done without that particular monstrosity raising its hydra-like head.
