With something like 40% of America already over-weight, looks like a lot of people are BINGE SNACKING on sweets, chips and other unhealthy treats.

To add to the snacking apparently we are all drunk too? With liquor store owners proclaiming it is like "New Year's Eve every day" of the year.

And then there is the surge in On-Line Gambling. Last time I looked, many Americans have minimal savings and most will run out of savings by the end of April so gambling seems illogical.

Now I'll admit that I drink. Most every evening I will have 1 or 2 drinks. Usually a nice whisky. But sometimes I'll do something lighter with less alcohol and have a drink bit of Sweet Vermouth with a splash of lemon juice. I'm not increasing my drinking and I'm not getting drunk. Like I said, 1, maybe 2 over the course of an evening. Usually with a tall glass of water too. ... And I have gained weight, honestly I'm eating too much but I'm also exercising and now I'm starting a diet. ... near as I can tell, I'm actually SAVING money because we are not out wasting it, shopping, etc.

One has to wonder, when we are let out of quarantine, what shape will American's be in as the world reopens? Fat, poor, and drunk?

Online poker is having a “renaissance” as players ante up more for tournaments and try to recreate their neighborhood poker nights, said Yaniv Sherman, head of commercial development for 888casino, an online gambling site.

There aren't any chips and dips in this house, no cookies and no candies. So, quarantine isn't increasing my consumption because I can't find where my wife has such stuff hidden if it's even here in the first place.

I will admit that I am drinking more though. I am usually a one or two Scotch a night man but a couple of times lately I've found myself going back for that third one. So, I've also started fitting in a couple of "dry" nights just to prove to myself that it isn't a problem.

I'm not a gambler so that'll never be a problem.

I will admit that I've gained six pounds since this all started. If the weather would stay nice for more that two days in a row I might be able to burn some of it off but with the continual rain that's not going to happen any time soon.

We have some diet popcorn snacks, and some pork rinds. But eating those is a rarity.

Dry night for me last night, we had an on-line/streaming fencing practice. I was too sweaty and tired after practice to enjoy anything but water. And there was no way I was going to risk going into the practice after a

I have no use for gambling. I've been to Vegas and come home with all my money, but I do enjoy the food and the shows there.

Uh, weight? Yup, actively dieting now. After picking up a quick 10# I am keen to give it back and get back to my normal weight. Hoping for a nice enough day today to actually spend a lot of time outside.

We started changing our eating habits on January 5th of this year, the day after my birthday. We cut out most snacks, very little sweets and no desserts.

We have lost a combined 50 pounds as of today and both of us are at our fighting weights right now so it now looks like we move to maintaining mode, which is harder than losing IMHO. We are walking an average of 20 miles a week give or take depending on the weather which has been horrible, so getting good exercise.

We feel a lot better as well shedding these pounds and our food stash is lasting well too!!! :th_lmao:

Best of luck to any of you that want to lose some pounds. It is never easy but easier when two do it together, we have found.

BTW, no pizza since the first of the year!! That is what I have missed more than sweets. LOL. God I love a Pepperoni and sausage pizza with double cheese!!

Never gamble unless you can afford to lose and I have never had one day in my life I could afford to lose my hard earned money.

I was a retired "home body" before this started so there's been no change for me as it relates to home and routines. Winter weather is still upon us so I'm not outside a lot doing the activities that'll get rid of my "winter weight".
I feel I've been gambling more but that's just because I've been watching the stock market a bit closer. I had a bit too much of my non-retirement assets aggressively invested in the market.

This morning I attempted to go to the local Home & Garden Center. I say attempted because the place was mobbed. Could not even get into the parking lot, with traffic back out to the street.

So during our walk today we both agreed that auto traffic was virtually at pre pandemic levels. It was sunny, temps at 60 and the best day weather wise we have had in weeks.

I guess folks are done and done with this quarantine thing judging by what we saw today.

As the weather gets even better after this long winter, I can see this lockdown thing self destructing. What are they gonna do, arrest everyone?
