Need some DMC part numbers

Hi, I'm new and yes a girl. I'm currently trying to rebuild a DMC 1450 I bought last year that crapped out after driving 2 miles. Peterson in Logan was nice enough to send me a download of the parts manual but it is very sketchy in places. Right now I am looking to replace motor mounts and the heater core. I've got all the gaskets and seals I need for now. I'm replacing the brake master cylinders. The frame will be heading to the sandblaster very soon. I'm using Nikson's rebuild as my guide. What an adventure! Wish me luck.
Does anybody know part #'s and a source for the motor mounts and heater core? It has the regular 3.3L motor.

I don't directly have the numbers for motor mount or heater control, but I have been having pretty good luck in the late 60's and early 70s in ford products by going to Rock auto.

Find a old school radiator shop near you and make the heater core their problem, around here most of the shops recognize the core and can *get * something that will fit.

WElcome, Next stop is a parts rig........

part of my post is missing.

Select a sedan with the 200 or 240 cu in engine and look at the photos.......

Welcome...

Not sure how pictures work out on the forum from my build on the 1450, but refer to my google online album, may be get something useful from there that didnt get to the forum thread here...

I sourced most of my parts from Napa or AutoZone, and the heater core - replaced it as well, but fan and the core were matched to the size off the shelf from Autozone...

Just have to dig through their inventory, its out there...

if link dont work, see if you can google

DMC 1450 Custom Restoration

That might yield a link to my album, I know I have a picture there of the blower motor and core apart before assembly, along w/other paperwork pictures that include part numbers that I was able to find that fitted my resto

Good luck and post pictures...

Thanks everyone for the PMs and advice. This is all new but I'm up for the challenge. I've done a lot of searching through all your old threads and continue to do so. I'll try to get some pictures up soon.

Kier with Chameleon and Tim with Remote Access are great resources if you're here in the West. They both have decades with 1450s and Tim just got some more used parts.

The frame is at the sand blasters and the motor is waiting to be mounted on the stand. I’ve been doing a little blasting on some of the smaller parts in my own little cabinet. Slow process for sure. My goal is to have this thing done before the snow falls this year.

We have Ford LSG 633 (200 ci.) industrial engines. You might call any nearby implement dealers that have a bone yard. Many 80s hay swathers and other machines used the LSG 633. Foley Engines back east rebuilds them and say they have parts. Nice frame!

Painting these while waiting for the rain to pass. Also found this broken in the oil pan. Anyone know where to find another pickup tube?

Most likely the pick up tube failed while the engine was running. It looks like the brake was above the oil level. I would start the search by first dropping the main bearings and work through the engine for lubrication issues before attaching a new tube and firing.

Here is the drawing for the oil pickup tube.

I am not 100% sure, but I think if you find an original FORD pickup tube then modify it to this set up.

Hope this will help out.

Getting parts cleaned and painted while waiting for the motor to come back from the machine shop. And yes, these are in my kitchen right now.

Kmcbride, I would weld/braze a support strap from the lower end of the suction tube up/across to a bolt at the bottom of the block. The six inch long tube has leverage on the flange. Plus many snow machine engines are solid mounted to the frame, thus transferring much more vibration to engine parts than a rubber mounted engine. Also many snow machine engines have modified oil pans due to the extreme angles these machines are capable of. Thus longer pick up tubes = more stress on the joint at the flange. Losing oil pressure 50 miles out is a real bummer.

The nice guy at the machine shop was able to fix the pickup tube. A strap sounds like a good idea. Thanks Sno-drifter for that tip.
He also said the blue print was helpful too—Thank you for that Dan (Catservice)

I was able to find/get the new motor mounts— Thank you Snowcat Pat.

The frame is done and painted with Raptor bed liner. I’m having a great time finding new parts to replace some of the old and rotting parts ie. throttle, heater and choke cables, brake master cylinders.
The engine is back from the shop and I’ll be working on painting and putting that back together. It’s snowing so not looking forward to working outside in the cold. Thankfully, I have a loving and tolerant husband who is looking the other way while I have painted parts drying in our kitchen. I also just got a huge box of wire and connectors from Waytek—thought I’d try making a new wire harness inside if it gets too cold outside.

Be sure to face the flange which bolts to the oil pump flat. Don't rely on the gasket to take all the irregularities. The flange probably warped during welding. While on the topic of oil pressure, I like to install a low pressure alarm on my machine. Could prevent serious damage from a variety of oil pressure issues. You do not have time to check the gauge often enough while driving.

So good to have an understanding mate when taking on these projects. Cast yourself with the lucky ones. You are obviously having too much fun. Think of the satisfaction when you ease into the deep stuff?

Took awhile but I was able to find a new shifter boot and a replacement shift indicator (the plastic thing) to replace the broken/rotted ones. The engine is back in. Now just putting things back together. Hope to get the cab back on tomorrow. This has been a slow project but it’s finally coming together.
Hmmm, just noticed I put the shifter in upside down. Guess I’ll be fixing that tonight.

New brake steer master cylinders in and cab set in place. Didn’t have good weather to paint the cab this year. Will have to do it later. Octane halo HID headlights mounted. Now to start making a new wiring harness.
