Default 1st run of the season

We met up with Tucker and his 66 543 yesterday to check out the fresh snow. We’ve been pretty dry so far this year and it seems that we finally have enough snow to have some fun in. We still need a couple feet to fill things in but plenty of snow on the forest roads for the 1st outing.

One thing I learned was to get an extra tie rod end and keep it in the cat. Tucker had one snap off near the end of the trip. We were able to slowly tow him back and all worked out just fine but a spare tie rod and it would have been an easy fix.

You need two tie rod ends, right and left hand threads.

Think there is a few different sizes on thread and taper.

AMR restore thread has some more info.

Today Jim VT and I ran up to Government Meadows. My first trip this season. The LMC ran very well. A slight hiccup when the rev limiter decided I didn't need power between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm. A little tweak on the rheostat and that was solved. Still stumbles if I let it idle awhile after running it hard. The weather was awful. It was 42 and raining. Made the snow into a nasty mess.

Found an abandoned F-150. Probably be there till spring now. With any luck it won't be shot up and burned in the meanwhile.

We fed the birds some leftovers we found in the cabin and called it a day.

Reaching that starter was no fun. Jim was able to touch the wire while I turned to key. It started right up. Will be much easier to fix at home. One needs to be a special kind of contortionist to reach it. It is all done by feel since you can't even see the connector.

I was just hoping he wasn't in it. My snowmobiling son says it will be a jump soon.

Going back just a little bit in this thread I talked about part numbers for tire rods. those tie rods fit some of my Tucker's but not all of them. Yes even the same year and model. No two Tucker's are the same. So it'll make it hard to take extra parts unless you know exactly which Tie rod yours takes. Just thought I should throw this out there.
