Rusty the Spryte restomod (from the ground up)

It was suggested that I start a build thread on here. I am usually not good about keeping up with these but I will do my best to change that.

I am new to snowcats however I have done various vehicle builds in my lifetime including but not limited to a 1998 supercharged honda civic, 1992 plymouth laser rs awd 2.4 liter frankenstein motor (ran 11s before I sold it), dodge stealth tt awd aws, 2005 Subaru STI with 500whp, 2005 Subaru BAJASTI build from the ground up complete with mattracks and a 6" lift, 1998 LMTV overlander we affectionately call Abel (we love this truck) and now this a 1980s era thiokol spryte with a rusted out body and a good frame....

I have a youtube channel that I keep a vlog very active on anytime I do something build related and it is the best place to see my progress on any of the builds I have done (since the 2005 STI). YouTube.com/seanfillner

I love the snow and have always had a desire to "Conquer" it with various vehicles.

To get you guys caught up to where I am today I have already chopped up the body down to the frame rails (the rust was overwhelming and had to go). This also allows me to make improvements that I see fit as I go along with this build. In my mind I can see the end result of my build which may take me a year or two to complete but as with every build I take on I will keep moving forward... I plan on building Rusty in a way that I feel they should have been built from the factory with updated parts and pieces of course....

My latest build episode should be up later today on my channel if you care to check it out.

Some pics as I go along will be added to this post.....

Thanks.

Your Spryte reminds me of one I saw recently on ksl.com Was it listed there as an unassembled collection of various parts from a seller named "Rob"? (He is a forum member, though he hasn't posted in years. His screen name, IIRC, is "Dummyfatpigpoo".

As an FYI, you can plug your transmission's serial number into this website to learn how it was configured:

https://www.allisontransmission.com/parts-service/my-transmission

Looking forward to your build...

P.S. I've lusted after an LMTV (or an MTV), but have successfully resisted the temptation (thus far)...

Yes I got the pile of parts from Rob. You should join my LMTV page. Make sure you answer all 3 questions.. :D https://www.facebook.com/groups/1607576859556624/

fmtvsales.com is right up the street from me. 6 month warranty on fully reconditioned trucks. :D

I'm not on facebook :(

Small world...I talked with one of the guys at fmtvsales.com for a good bit last summer. I had researched them fairly thoroughly, but his knowledge was extensive. Nice guy and very helpful. I've looked at quite a few listed for sale at govplanet.com, but my impression is you could easily buy one that needs considerable work, which could mean $$$$. If (big IF) I decide to get one, I would very likely buy it through fmtvsales.com.

I can rationalize almost any purchase, but I'm really struggling with this one...

I hope you have a strong back and hands , because you have a mountain of work ahead of you .
Did you check out my previous build on Abel the lmtv? This snowcat is merely tedious work. I will be fine... thanks for the kind words...
