A test of socialiam

A test of socialism.

As the late Adrian Rogers said, "you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

This professor is a Genius . An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed a entire class. That class had insisted that socialism would work and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class"All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy! When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great. But when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could it be any simpler?

A simple real world test is to look at Ford, GM and Chrysler.

We bailed out Chrysler TWICE, it is in miserable condition.
We bailed out GM and it is almost in as bad a shape as Chrysler.
Ford was not bailed out and is heading toward real profits.

Wasn't GM bailed out twice also?

Based on the article I read also the UAW is trying to penalize Ford now to get them in line with GM and Chryslers Wages.

The UAW figures if they put Ford under too then no big deal. Obama will just give them ownership of the company , like he did GM and Chrysler. There is no incentive for the UAW to cooperate with Ford at all. I hope if they go on strike that Ford has enough products made elsewhere , plus inventory to let them rot on the picket line.

Pretty much sounds solid...

Ford ought to build one in mexico.

I'd love to see them build it in the USA. Even if it only uses a fraction of the workforce, I'd prefer to keep the jobs here. It might also teach the UAW a few lessons about cooperation because the UAW needs FORD more than FORD needs the UAW. Ford can move their plants around the world to places that actually WANT the plants and workers that actually WANT to work and leave the UAW workers in the US out of jobs. If a car company is going to compete then labor has to be flexible enough to see that there is a world market out there to compete against. Ford has to compete with Korean, Japanese, German, Swedish, British and American cars. It appears that cars from India and China may be coming to our shores soon too. It also appears that Fiat of Italy may begin shipping cars here within a year or two. Most of the cars coming in here are economy cars, one area where the American producers are very weak. Ford's Focus is a viable economy car, but is also built in plants around the world. Seems like the UAW would look out past the end of its nose and see what is happening in the world . . . maybe even before its last employee here in the US is out of work?

Ford has some great small cars on the way Bob. The world winning Fiesta will be here next year and then the euro version of the Focus is coming , which is a much superior car then the present focus. Maybe ford could build that super plant in texas or down south and do well with it, but i would never give detroit a factory anymore.
