Snow-Trac Accessory Wires?

Tonight I was cleaning the engine bay of my ST-4 and prepping for installation of the new tranny/engine/etc. I found two 36" steel wires stowed on the right drive chain guard. They look like TIG welding wire, except they're painted with what looks to be original paint as what's in the rest of the engine bay.

Anyone ever notice these in their ST-4s? Any guesses to what their purpose might be?

They are not original. the engine bay was originally red as the rest of the machine.. Not sure why they were there, or what they could be for.
