New project
PB 070 DR
Vintage Pistenbully. I was looking for a private alpine excursion / ski machine that could be used in backcountry and have some advantages of a hydro machine without being massive. The little 70 comes in at what i consider a healthy balance between weight , power, and size between Thiokols and Bigger groomers. This one has 3500 hours, and runs well.
I will begin some restoration in the spring when the snow goes away. Although we are almost there now.
70 Basic Specs...8 feet wide tracks, 5000 lbs give or take without tiller system but with box when i finish it. Blade etc. Little Mercedes diesel, is excellent on fuel consumption, and all hydro components are in good order, although i will do a complete flush here pretty soon, with new fluids filters etc around. Tracks are the wide version, which is pretty cool, for getting into the big stuff up higher, and it maneuvers well. They have a few outside splices, i will do a little work on them, thinking of building a set of summer tracks for it.
Updating electrical system in terms of relocating batteries from cab to rear, more room for jump seat, and i have added some upgraded fuse systems. I have no problems with glow plugs etc, but may upgrade to a newer style. build a dual battery system for it, which will be completed when the passenger box gets finished and wired up.
Needs some love cosmetically on the blade and a little welding, some paint etc.
These PB's Came with heated mirrors, heated windshield, etc etc. Rear window is cracked, but better than the front. will replace glass in it. Replaced the exhaust pipe with a new one which will extend beyond the passenger cab.
Fun Fun, too bad winters almost up, but next year it will be ready for it.
