Loblolly Pines vs Shurmadi Oaks

While I was clipping the pasture this morning I noted the difference in growth rate for some trees we planted during the same week of 2001. All of the loblolly pines in the pictures were planted as seedlings, as were the shumardi oaks, sawtooth oaks, bald cypress, and a couple of mulberry trees. There are three shumardi oaks that we planted from potted nursery stock that were about 6' at the time.
I guess I was looking for something to do other than get back on the house-painting job, so I decided to take a few pictures.

The previous three are bald cypress; two are turning color and one has about dropped all its' needles.

The longleaf pine was planted two years ago.
The mulberry was planted along with the majority in 2001.

The last picture in the previous post shows a shurmardi oak and a few pines in the pasture of the same age. The larger trees in the background (leland cypress, bald cypress) were planted in 1991.
